Cars you didn't like when they were new, but kind of like now...

The early BMW Minis have grown on me recently. Hated them at the time, now they seem pretty smart, especially next to the newer versions.

Being from a square bimmer age I didn't gel with the e34 at the time.  Saw a tidy one the other day and struck me that they've aged well.

My wife liked them from the get go but I disliked them. Having owned a fair few since I rather like booting them about and I have transferred my dislike to their mechanicals. 🤪

The one car I really hated when it came out was the Disco 3 in 2004. Thought they were truly ‘meh’. These days I would have one

They're not slow if driven properly/appropriately/without mercy.  Also, not 'wheezy': they're designed to run flat out, or piet au plancher, for hours.  Maximum power happens at 5750rpm...

Mine was a bit of a rocket ship even before the 720cc engine!  Just ask @Stinkwheel

Very true,  @chaseracer’s a dyane is/was well known for being very sprightly. But even most standard ones aren’t  bad, even in today’s traffic, as long as you are prepared to give the engine and box ‘what for’ all the time. No reason not to, a well maintained example will thrive upon it.
70-75mph on the motorway is no real problem if you have a half decent one. Or 80+ if we are talking about @chaseracers even when it was still 602.
