Ridiculous parts prices

Any decent engineering factors will be able to measure and match them bearing assemblies pal. Then you can buy relatively local.

Maybe but they don't have the gaskets and seals and other parts that are necessary.

And I need to get someone to help me with this and I can't expect the car to be on their lift while I take the bearings and try to find one that fits.

So I just have to look at it this way: with quality parts and with the car annual mileage, these will hopefully last me the rest of my life.

VX220. I'd dread trying to to get insurance on one....

I couldn’t get a cheap quote on one when I was looking for a VX or Elise. The Elise is (IIRC) something like £200 fully comp with me and my missus (and her points). Can only be down to spares availability.

“It’s a bargain at £800, there’s one on eBay for £1,100”

Back in the 90s you could buy a twin headlamp kit from morrett for lots of cars like a mk3 cavalier.  Recently I've seen also seen stealth, rectangular head lamp conversions on mk1 mx5s. (Headlamp is replaced by a rectangular lamp and only lifts 1/3 of the distance)

Both are crude but effective in engineering terms.

If I was looking at £1000 for a light, I'd be looking into an alternative.

Do you think that anyone is making such things for the VX220?

Best way of looking at it 👍

No, but if they did they would still be charging a fortune. It’s annoying when a couple of people charge these silly prices and then everyone follows.

This thread is ridiculous parts prices.

I sometimes sell parts off for a couple of local garages.  I have a BMW headlight to shift that is £4,500 new.  This is total insanity.  Also quite stressful to sell with it being so expensive.
