I like how the scene was heavily inspired by the "Over Moon with a Cavalier" documentary. Love the Cavalier @Sir Snipes. Get it bought. Seeing one of these at nigh-on £4k is a bit baulking, but it's your money and to be fair, some of us will spend around that amount if not more on maintaining them. warren t claim and Sir Snipes 2
Peter C Posted April 21 Posted April 21 That is highly specced for a base model. My base model Ford Sierra Sapphire makes do with a carburettor, no PAS, no electric windows, no central locking, no sunroof, no metallic paint, no alloy wheels…… Sir Snipes 1
tooSavvy Posted April 21 Posted April 21 My *AVAS has done 20k since I bought it on 01Aug '24. Apart from ToMM©.... I've never had such a serene driving experience! I can't see smoke from the fuse.... but, presumably, it's going to go BANG spectacularly at some point 👀 😂😂 🚙💨 Sir Snipes and privatewire 1 1

The worst place is the bulkhead, water comes in via the holes fornthe track rods, runs down the angled chassis rail and soaks into the insulation against the bulkhead. That's where you can see why they were essentially cheap mass market cars. Engine too noisy? Rather than develop a new one, GM just bashed a load of insulation in. That's one way I guess! The other place they go really bad is the rear chassis rails because you can't see it easily. My last one had 147,000 miles but was inexplicably mint underneath. There was zero rust, anywhere, not even the start of any. I should maybe have kept ot but it was just too ordinary to drive and I got a bit bored. yeah all because of those ridiculous blocked rubber drainage ‘socks’ Split_Pin and Sir Snipes 2

Iirc they're all J plate and the facelift came out on a K so that's probably why Peter C and Sir Snipes 2

Plus it'll have the ace sliding first motion shaft + access plate for sub-1 hour clutch changes Playing Cambelt roulette with something like this, which some old boy dearly loved, would be rude. Not as bad as putting an angle grinder to the coil springs and bodging on some Rota reps but similar. However, I'm doubting my bike will go in the boot. Bear in mind a Sandero with the seats down only just manages to swallow it - better if I remove the rear wheel on the bike too, but that's a faff. Being a modern MTB bike it has very wide bars.

Nowhere near as nice the Mk3 Flight, which actually looked very snazzy. mk2_craig 1

I really wanted to rescue this thing back then but that was never going to happen. That red one was fucked when it was laid up 20 years ago!
