Great news that car is back and in (almost) one piece.

I too have been following this on Ovalchat and was annoyed to find my own post had been removed from the thread on the Datsun.

I notice a new thread has been started (by theinvestigator), offering a substantial reward for information leading to an arrest etc. I've added my own reply and would like to know why my previous post was removed:

QUOTE (theinvestigator @ Jul 10 2010, 08:54 PM)

Hello I have been asked to investigate the theft of a early Datsun from Yapton last Saturday 3rd July during the football game..the car has been found and returned to the owner but has some parts missing and some damage.I understand that there has been some posts on this site relating to the car.the car was found near whiteways on the a29 near bury west sussex. I am in a position to say that there is a substantial reward on offer for information leading to the person being named and prosecuted Please pm me if you have info, all correspondence in the strictest confidence

Good man! Interestingly, it seems my post has been removed from the other thread on this forum relating to the stolen Datsun. I'd like to know why. Can anyone see anything wrong with it? Did it upset anybody?

Here it is again:

So, now that this guy has been 'named and shamed' (assuming he really was the bellend responsible), what will the consequences be for him in terms of his ability to take part in banger racing?

Will he be asked to leave meetings, will all the other drivers make a stand and refuse to get in their cars until he's escorted from the track etc?

Or will everyone mutter quietly under their breath when he shows up, only to roll their eyes in that ''yes, we know people who've nicked cars for racing, isn't it a shame'' kind of way while continuing to allow him to carry on exactly as before?

Is anyone on here actually interested in trying to make stop this kind of thing from happening again or is the whole thing just going to get brushed under the carpet? Maybe it's ok to have the occasional stolen car on the track is it?

Nowt to do with me.

However, a friend is indeed conducting 'negotiations' for the missing items. Not through a megaphone however.!

Interestingly, there's a letter in this week's Claasic Car Weekly, from a banger racer of some 30 years standing [he claims] that denies that this happens.......ORLY?

Personally, i think the best thing that could happen with banger races is that you must show a V5 for that car and that its in your name before being allowed on the track, that way it should put a stop to stolen cars being used.

I know a couple of guys who banger race, and every both of them buys cars ligit, sadly its not unheard of cars being stolen to race, or even cars that have broken down at the side of the road being swiped :(
