FredTransit Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 So I had to wake up Bobbie the builder, she's been off the road in storage quite a while. Got a Bollywood shoot for her, and it was time for her to go back to work! Muttley me mechanic towed her home, she did have a bumper but it was bent so it had to go! Yes that's a nasty hole in the wing, and the pics above were after a wash! Stuff was growing in the bed, and the greedy boards were rotting. After working on her all afternoon and well into the night (replacing the bumper, mirror head, wipers, one of the wheel nuts - where the fook did that go - and stripping the wood off the bed) I got this Now I know that's not mint, but that wasn't the effect I was after. She's a working truck, and even in the 80s she would not be 100% minty fresh, so I left the rust on the bed alone. TBH I think the body's had it's day and it might be time to be looking for another pick up bed. Anyway, we were only home from work a couple of hours, and the terriers kicked off. Experience tells me now that that's the pikey alarm! Bobbie was parked outside, and behind that was a Mk6, you know what comes next. After the usual crap about asking if there was any scrap going, they subject got round to the tipper. "That's a tidy looking pick up, is it for sale?""NO" After taking the reg number down, we re arranged the vans so she was blocked in.....Two more days and sadly she'll be tucked up in the storage again. Well maybe via the tip, it's about time she did some proper work!
Mr H Sceptre Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 That cab's come up really well Fred, you must be pretty happy with the result. You don't seem to have much luck with the local gyppo's though!
maxpower Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I've seen really scabby beds recycled onto much newer chassis cabs so it looks quite appropriate to me. Is there a reason your next door neighbours are selling their house?maybe because pikeys are in the area
pogweasel Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 £399,950 is a small price to pay to look out onto Fred's lovely transit collection every time you open the curtains.
FredTransit Posted June 17, 2010 Author Posted June 17, 2010 Now you mention it, there does seem to be a lot more pikeys about these days. Got me a bit worried, seen as we are half way though a job. Yeah i am happy with the truck, she scrubs up well!
Station Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Looks fine, where do you work on it? You must be a known target for thieving gypsies by now.
FredTransit Posted June 17, 2010 Author Posted June 17, 2010 Only had her back home for less than a day! Just gave her the beauty treatment where she's parked outside.
Mr_Bo11ox Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Does anyone else have one of these absurd-looking Dyson 'dual cyclone' vacuum cleaners? I have, and it doesnt work as well as it used to despite me putting some new filters in. Anyone have any experience of this?

I have, and it doesnt work as well as it used to despite me putting some new filters in. Anyone have any experience of this?I had one of the old DC04 vacuum cleaners. It worked great once I removed all the filters and chucked them away. From memory there were quite a few though. If you have some allergies though you might not want to do that.

Try power washing the cylinder out and letting it dry and make sure your hoses are not split / blocked

Mr_Bo11ox Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Soz all, I'm just being a facetious tw@t Fred had made an interesting thread with a decent shite content for once, so I thought i'd try and turn it into a 9-pager on hoover problems
pogweasel Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 I see what you did there, Bo1. Hey, do you like bread? I like bread. I like bread to eat. I could eat it every day. Regardless of how off topic it is to eat bread, I am gonna do it anyway. Anyone who disagrees with my view over bread and it's inclusion herein by myself is clearly stifling my civil liberties and freedom of speech. After all this is the internets and if I want to talk about bread to no-one in particular then I shall jolly well do it, OK. So what do you think about bread? ** awaits 17 "interesting" posts regarding wheat-based flour & yeast staple foodstuffs **
Milford Cubicle Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 I don't know why you're asking about vacuum cleaners here, you should consult some experts.
