Simon_punto Posted March 20 Author Posted March 20 More new stuff arrived, due to age and fragile plastics. the number plate lamps snapped, when I was changing a bulb and cleaning them out, so ordered 2 new ones. also got a tip off, of new genuine old stock headlamp wiper blades. I couldn’t hit buy it now quick enough. I’d changed the blades over with refills from Halfords as the originals were split, but it didn’t work too well. At least this has the proper genuine blades now that look correct now. Lanciaman, RayMK, rainagain and 7 others 10
Simon_punto Posted March 26 Author Posted March 26 So, I’m looking for a bit of advice please. I'm trying to go through the car and replace trim parts that are either missing/ have been vandalised in the past. There is a certain part in particular I cannot find as it comes as a whole unit- it’s the cover that goes over the electric sunroof emergency windy thingy- see photos below. It has no part number and I have checked that to replace it I have to buy the whole assembly with lights/ buttons etc. what’s even worse that there is absolutely no need for a hole to be drilled into it, and it’s not even centred 😫 anyway, I plan on filling the hole, sanding it down and either wrapping/ painting the panel to match the rest. Can anyone recommend any wrap/ paint that would match and give a textured finish, to look like it does now? also, more (fucking expensive) parts coming from Italy, and Netherlands. I have found some unicorn parts to recommission the headlamp wash wipe- I hate things not working and everything must be just so. It’s the washer jets, piping etc that clips onto the headlamp wiper arms to squirt fluid onto the lights. The wipers work but there is no piping there just now. It seems I’m going down the same slippery slope as I did within the Punto- talking of which I think I’m going to tax it and MOT it start of April and use it a wee bit, as I haven’t touched it since November. And the cee’d daily continues to impress, cheap to run, cheap to tax and amazing on fuel. That offsets my two polluting old Fiat’s, even though the inefficient 2.0 petrol Tipo that costs £30 a month to tax can enter Dundee city centre, but my 1.6 diesel, £35 a year cee’d can’t. makes perfect fucking sense 🤔 IronStar and 500tops 2

Its a tenner a can but it goes a long way and comes with a few nozzles to set the texture. We use dozens of cans of it a week at work, it's good stuff. You can get it on amazon Have a practice on some scrap to find a way to mimic the texture of your dash first - cort1977 1

Simon_punto Posted March 30 Author Posted March 30 One of the jets for the headlamp washers arrived so that was fitted today, using the correct clips, routed properly and plumbed in. No ideas if it works yet as the other one isn’t here yet but at least it looks right. also a plug for the dash arrived as mind had another unexplained hole in it. Someone likes making holes in this car in the past. next update should be a video of the washers working fingers crossed Burnside, 500tops, Wibble and 6 others 9
Simon_punto Posted Saturday at 12:42 Author Posted Saturday at 12:42 I have spent a wee while on the car today. Fitted the other washer jet, just waiting on a t piece arriving from Fiat, and fitted a dash cam hardwire kit. i have a nextbase camera in the ceed, and one in the xc40 which both have a snap on/ off quick release thing so i had a spare mount and hardwire kit that i put in the Tipo today. It was straightforward enough and will just switch the camera between cars as I can’t drive 2 cars at once. wiring is a disaster in the car, pulled out unused toggle switches and bits of broken Clifford alarm. Dare not touch anything else in case I immobilise the car 🤦♂️ also need to find that bloody leak Wibble, Matty, RayMK and 1 other 4
Simon_punto Posted Saturday at 16:39 Author Posted Saturday at 16:39 Also, this afternoon I took the car to dobbies, and realised it is tiny compared to the Yaris I parked in front of. Couple of bonus beauty shots that make it look much better than it is. tonight I’m going to wake the Punto up, and get it mot’d tuesday adw1977, Matty, worldofceri and 10 others 13
Simon_punto Posted Monday at 18:33 Author Posted Monday at 18:33 Now have working headlamp washers. they are meant to have stops on the top and bottom of the headlamps to stop them going too far but NLA. so happy they work now, not that they will ever be used Wibble, Lanciaman and Mrcento 3

Ebay Italy was my expensive friend, as well as getting to know folk in Europe with 8.32s. The 8.32s didn't all have the headlamp wipers, but those that did had different headlamps, with glass 'nodules' blown into the lens to act as the wiper stops. The Tipo have the same idea or a different stop approach?
Simon_punto Posted Monday at 20:49 Author Posted Monday at 20:49 They have plastic pegs that slide into lugs in the headlamp to stop the wipers from going too far. the headlights aren’t 16v specific, you can add the stops to any Tipo headlamp as they all have the lugs. It’s just finding the plastic stops 🤦♂️
