A mate of mine just emailed me to ask what this "EX" warning light signifies..

His 968 is a Japanese imported, LHD which resides in Holland, I can't seem, to find any info on the net (that gives and answer) so much for Google knowing everything ;) And to cap it off, the Porsche garage he uses has no clue either...

Cheers for the replies so far :D

I'm not sure if he has the owners manual for the car or it just doesn't explain what it is? It might be that it is all in Japanese...?

On a Porsche forum there were some chaps in the Middle East that mention this light coming on at high speeds (180km/h +) but nobody had any idea what it was there either?

You'd think the Porsche specialist would know...

Could it be something to do with Japanese-specific emissions kit?

What does it matter as long as it doesn't go on?

Actually the going fast and light thing rings a bell.

My mates dad has a Toyota Supra (import) , which has some sort of light and buzzer to warn him about going fast.

I've just spend 20 mins of my life googling for the answer and i still can't find one!

It could be an excess speed warning, my mates old Toyota Surf had one that chimed when you exceeded 70mph.

I'm sure he's done more then 70mph in it, Has it ever came on when travelling at speed?

My GSX-R750 is a Jap spec import (sourced in HK) and it used to have a red flashing light once you went above 80km/h but that was soon removed ;)

I'll ask him if it only comes on at speed - but he says it's a red flashing light and that's all I know right now. :?

But on non-Japanese ones, it's replaced with hi-beam warning?

I've got a feeling it's something to do with catalytic converter.

Does it mean that two hard boiled eggs are now ready?

Might have been lost in translation perhaps... "eggs became "EX"
