Tony Crook - the late CEO of Bristol Cars was quite a character and of trenchant views - I expect he regarded fiddling with the wireless an effete activity - only to be undertaken before setting off and not touched after.

It's purely there for Test Match Special. Thats it.

There was a name in Exchange&Mart, every week for years and years, who wanted to buy your Bristol.
Got into legal trouble over something. Could have been a Brian…

Thats the 'Bristol' Brian May (who was Birmingham based). I never knew the badger-baiter Brian May had one.

Yes they were.

As demonstrated by Tony Crook by detonating a tyre at 60mph while driving on Filton runway in front of the assembled motoring press.

the insistence on the spare wheel location really screws up the proportions

Alvis, IIRC.  I think John Alderton drove one in a series too but can't remember which.

Just back from a fairly extensive test drive. Christ, this things got big boots… It’s got a four speed auto, changes into top at 70… 1800 rpm! 2.88 diff helps.

Good brakes, fluid steering, comfortable yet fairly firm. Many switches and buttons, which all work

cruise control, working a/c, electric seats etc etc.

rear diff whines a bit at 60…, solution? Go faster, all is quiet.
