A walk around a classic auction

Didn’t have much on today so decided to go for a mooch around here with my dad. Had zero intentions of buying anything, so didn’t even bother registering, but we did bring along a wad of cash just in case…

The case:

I don’t consider myself a very superstitious person, but I feel like this was a sign. It lingered for ages:

This was very nice. 1948 Irish-assembled Plymouth. Right hand drive and all. The red paint on the bottom half of the bodywork would have to go if it was mine though. Was advertised recently for a very reasonable €12k. Could be a nice buy but too rich for me:

…immediately. A nice pair of old trucks in very nice nick. The FG is from 81!

This was very nice, but a few different shades of yellow. Outside among the rougher cars, so a potential bargain. Will throw in a cheeky bid but not expecting much luck:

No, and just as well. Some crazy prices:

The Carina made €6100. The Roller made €1500 which was enough for it really

The Shadow - if it's a Shadow II should not I think have chrome bumpers unless they have been retro-fitted?

Some colours really suit Shadows - a louche gold certainly does. Reflects the light and minimises the bulk.

Fantastic number plate - non-usable in the UK alas?

I wonder who owned that?

Hah! Literally just came to edit my post with that.

Re. the plate. Old Irish plates could be transferred to the UK but I don’t think it’s been possible for 30 or so years now.

VIP 1, IT 1 etc were originally Irish plates

Ooh! Big appetite for Carina II over there 😲
