WTF is a Land Rover Ranchera?

Recommended Posts

Just sent them a range rover classic. I don't want to send them anything too rare in case they say yes. Also knowing my luck they will say yes to something rare, I find it then they want a blue one, and it's red.....

Some of us should collaborate and start "AUTOSHITE FILM CARS", we seem to be better at researching potential cars than the people who do it professionally.

Vitara (mid 90s) was in the first lot. They didn't like it. Now can you see why I am banging my head against a wall?

I always wanted a 2 door rangey. Infact I had one, but bought it in bits and that's the way it stayed.

Here's an update on this. I think whoever said (further back in this thread) that Ranchera was Spanish for estate was pretty much right. After a long convo I was sent these as examples.

After the conversation today about cars this is what we are looking at:

more 80's 90's than 2000

Er Land Rover much? I have no idea where to start looking for a STOCK 80s passat estate, so in desperation sent em a

Mk4 escort

Volvo 240 estate

Volvo 740 estate.

I await a reply. Can't help I have been used as an automotive translation service......

Just get them something completely inappropriate, they seem very difficult to please. Maybe help out Minimad with his Reliant Rebel resto by hiring that.

Rebel! Fantastic, what a great idea, it would have to be pale blue though.

TBH after this little mission I will donate some rollers! Anybody know of an 80s Passat estate that's not had all the paint scoured off it's bonnet and been hit With The Stick?

Posted

There's a blue Peugeot 204 estate on ebay right now, probably too old though. Also there are a couple of mid 80s Peugeot 505 estates that I think are blue and were quite popular in their day.

I get the idea they want a VW, and TBH I doubt I will find one that's not been messed with. I have more chance of finding a T&T'd Mk1 escort for a onner.....

The B3 Passat (the one with no grill) was introduced in 1988 I think.

Get a 1993 and lie about the year? Can't see how they'd know.

Like one of these

Depends when it was supposed to have been bought. I can't see any 80s ones at all on ebay. OK I know it's not the only place where cars are for dale, but it has the most listings of anything. Also it may have to be bought, as they want a pale blue one, I did think of the VW fastback or whatever they are called, but I think they are more 70s that 80s.

Just give them a tandem and tell them to sling their hook.

1992 on G plate? Not been taxed since '05 and has a rear plate that looks like it was made by a 5 year old...So you should be able to negotiate something off the £695 price tag.http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/ww ... egLetter=G[/img]

You know what? I think even I think that looks too modern. You never know though. Id this the model that came in in 88?

That was the one I was thinking of. Have you got a pale blue one though?

OK I have some Dulux and a roller, I will take the red one.....

Of course! But I have no other details as yet (apart from the start date of 3 July), and seeing how fussy they are, I hate to involve an owner yet. I have already had a bitterly disappointed milk float owner this month (cancelled) so don't want to bring that on somebody else if I can avoid it. Also it HAS to be a pale blue one.TBH I am loosing the will to live.....

why do they give a s#% what colour it is?

unless the pretend people bought their pretend car brand new they wouldn't get to choose the colour anyway

I don't thing I have ever seen a sky blue VW estate. It would be a crap colour for a large estate anyway.

Want my wife to translate "don't be so f#$&ng fussy" into Spanish? :D

Sorry but you seem to have confused me with somebody who might know..... It's probably something to do with the 'colour palette' the Art Director is working with. That's the Art Director, that person with whom I am not allowed any contact.....
