binhoker668 Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Towards the end the Stasi had taken control of so much that the Police dealt pretty much just with domestic stuff and crowd control. The Police would openly use batons on people on the street, whereas the Stasi would drag people off for psycological torture and interrogation. I can give you a list of DDR stuff to visit if you like! The Stasi museum in Leipzig is totally awesome. All internal dialogue is in german, but it matters not. You wouldn't believe some of the crazy disguise kits they used. And the reams of confiscated 'contraband' is mental.Yeah - go Leipzig in general - I love the place.Dead good lakes to swim in up beyond Connewitz too...
RedSparrow Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 Hey!Just been clearing out my phone pics. It seems I spotted an Alpine when pissed up on new years eve. Although I was drunk enough to forget it, the pictures are reasonable considering. Sort of. oldcars 1
eddyramrod Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I was only 16 when they were launched, but I would swear that's an Alpine, rather than a Horizon. Drunker than you thought? Still a good spot though.
boobydoo Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 You mean an Alpine! An early Talbot one too, probably with the old Simca 1442cc lump in it. Looks in good nick!!
RedSparrow Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 Corrected! Yes I have been drinking tonight too.
155V6 Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I was watching an old VHS tape from the early 90s today, there was a local news broadcast with a story about a bad road crash. One of the cars was described as a Horizon Alpine
Mr_Bo11ox Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 CAN'T TELL A HORIZON FROM AN ALPINE = SHITE BEGINNER!!! Give yourself 50 lashes, or beetter still get your lass to give you 50 lashes with an old copy of WHAT CAR featuring a Mitsubishi Space Wagon on the cover. Someone needs to beat the shite INTO you!
RedSparrow Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 Actually Bol, I am hugely embarrased about this whole incident. Half a glass of out of date real-ale from the corner shop and my shite skills are all over the place. I hang my head in shame.
Alexg Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Geezer owns 2 TR7s, and you're calling his shiteness into question !?!
fotorabia Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 The DDR bus is a Robur..i bought one with only delivery mileage on it in Berlin for 200quid in 95..mint school bus..they had awful petrol motors..so i sold it to a mate with another one with a Belarus air cooled diesel and we stuck that motor in it..primo..
RedSparrow Posted February 27, 2011 Author Posted February 27, 2011 You had a Robur? You total winner! Any pictures?
Shep Shepherd Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Roburs are cool. I came across this one when I was visiting Suhl in the former DDR in summer 2008:
RedSparrow Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 Just remembered this from my Czech travels, seen on top of a hill. God knows how it got up there, the track was about 3ft wide in places.
RedSparrow Posted November 23, 2012 Author Posted November 23, 2012 Ok, for the sake of saving my shitty spotting thread, here's some drunken night time pictures of a Wartburg. I'm sorry. michael t 1
RedSparrow Posted April 18, 2013 Author Posted April 18, 2013 Saw this today. I can't remember the last time I wanted a car so much. Although I'd lose the checked stickers myself.
RedSparrow Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 Thanks for the bump Cav. BUMP FOR A REAL THREAD! LOLZ!
RedSparrow Posted June 22, 2013 Author Posted June 22, 2013 Some stuff outside my window the other day. This Wartburg had the obligitory Disabled badge and high vis jacket on the parcel shelf. michael t 1
RedSparrow Posted December 3, 2013 Author Posted December 3, 2013 Like many towns the place where I grew up has a facebook page where people post old photos and stuff. Normally not much of shite related interest, but this picture stood out to me because of someting super rare even when new, can anyone spot what I'm on about?! Mr Livered 1
mercrocker Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 You mean the mozzy van that has not yet rusted out in Hastings?
RedSparrow Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 Yes!When Sam Glover unearthed one it was speculated that it was possibly the only one ever sold in the UK. So now we know that there was at least one more. This is on a par with a good quality photo of bigfoot as far as I'm concerned.
