People need to fit immobilisers (of their own creation) to their classics.

I’ve done it to mine and one in particular, I’d be flabbergasted if it went walkies.

Around £200 for the Discklok and battery cut off switch. 

A few years  ago an attempt to nick my old Land Rover was prevented by the battery cut out switch. At the time the Disckloc was on another vehicle.

The thief had forced open the passenger side sliding window and climbed through to access the vehicle, must have been someone small and quite agile and knowledgeable of Land Rovers.    

The steering lock had been smashed off and the correct electrical wires to switch on the ignition were connected and all the gear levers had been put into the correct position to drive away.

I remember you were nearly going to sell that, because I really wanted it. I put that type of cut off switch on my disco, mainly a slow down tactic as a spanner across the bottom would bypass that.

Yes, however the thief either didn't find it or may not have had a suitable bypass, I bought another Disloc at the earliest opportunity, sold the Land Rover two years ago.

At the time of the attempted theft it was parked where my Volvo is pictured. Communal parking area where I was living at the time, next to a main road, well lit and about thirty feet away from the nearest residence,

Sometimes it’s the well known ones with easy access that get lifted. I pass a green defender on my route to work through the city, it’s always there but it is used. No visable locks on it either. I think he’s either very brave or very stupid.

A Land Rover breaker moved into a workshop I had previously rented a few years ago. He had a quite tidy 110 Hi-cap which was secured with one of those steering wheels which have a quick release removable outer section. I recall these were quite expensive and looked very effective in use.

Still got nicked though and the anti theft unit must have been removed to drive it away, as access to move it with any kind of Hiab or tow truck is too restricted.

Might still have a photo on my old laptop, I'll have a look later.

Plenty of circuit racing action for them and Im not talking about going round the oval. They aren't ten a penny to buy anymore

£150 for a decent front wing, £150 for a bonnet, £100 per door, £300 for a running engine, £100 for a gearbox, £300 for a galvanised chassis etc. And you'd have it stripped down in an afternoon.
Easy car for ringing too, usually just a set of plates and a riveted vin plate on the bulkhead to swap over.

I doubt they'll be going ram raiding with it.

Thats been stolen from about a mile from me. 

Probably seen it driving about (there seems to be a few 2cvs round here). Sadly, haven't seen it since yesterday. 

Hopefully they'll get it back. 

Bit if a worry it was so near. Hopefully (without wanting to tempt fate) I'll be okay, we don't get much crime up by me. I'm not sure if its just the fact I'm on top of a massive fucking hill or whether they just can't be bothered with our estate and just go and rob the nicer ones down the road.

I remember seeing a 2cv that belonged to a member of one of the FB groups stripped after being stolen, everything removable had disappeared but the owner got their car back at least. 
 

I’ve got a 123 Bluetooth electronic ignition gizmo that I still need to fit to mine. You can disable it via an app on your phone. They look a pretty good piece of kit.

This is anti theft device I mentioned, must have been a targeted theft by specialist  Land Rover thieves.     Apparently it was spotted being driven about five miles away from where it was nicked the next day.         I never heard if the owner got it back.
