If you need a lift down to collect it/view it, I'll volunteer, though it will have to be at the weekend.

Cash there and then is a better bargaining tool.

Thank you for the offer Oldford, Funny enough I've been thinking about this car all day, It's not good i know! .

I've just rang them again, She's going to call me Thursday to hopefully arrange going round and seeing it on Saturday morning fingers cross.

I explained i wasn't a boy racer and that it would be well looked after which she was happy with, I should be o.k for a lift as Mrs Triggers about.

Do you live in this area then?

Posted

I live not too far from your local Audi garage. If you need some help, let me know.

When you look at it, ask to see the registration document and make a note of the reference number, with this and the registration number, you'll be able to look online at its computerised MOT history. So you'll have maybe 5 years of advisories, failures, passes, where it was tested and its mileage.

On Sunday i went to the Helmingham Hall classic car show in Suffolk, This is always one of the biggest shows in the area and this year didn't disappoint.

One of the highlights of the show is the concourse drive which is basically people racing up and down the halls road, I'm not sure if health and safety would like it due to the lack of armco but I'm fun to watch never the less.

The complete set is here with bigger photo's. http://www.flickr.com/photos/triggersca ... 833918251/

Fantastic pics- so much stuff to lust after! Predictably, my biggest want is the '66 Mk1 Cortina Super estate. Looks good on those wheels - was it running standard motor?

I don't think so, It sounded pretty throaty and it really flew up the straight, it wasn't owned by a young lad neither.

I'm glad you said you like the Cortina, I might well be looking at a 66 Mk 1 1500 Deluxe Estate at the weekend...

It be this one, It's been up for sale for a while and the owners hagged the price from £2550 to £2150 which i still a little above my budget but I've seen it at a few show and know it's a nice one, The wing on the off side doesn't line up perfectly but the rest of the car is straight from what i remember.

Hopefull I'll be able to go and have a look at the weekend, I just couldn't decide if really wanted an Estate or not...

Posted Image

Posted Image

Yeah, that looks nice, and estates are cool! Having said that, the rear wheel arches are a very odd shape, and the lower rear wing, from the wheel arch back to the bumper, is not the shape Ford had in mind! There's been some not very convincing repairs carried out there. Hardly surprising, '60s Fords rot like buggery!!

Posted

Is that "Aston" Mitsuoka Motors first attempt at restyling a Nissan Micra ?

The Alvis, '64 reg, would be a TE21.I would defo roll in that as it is.

That white 850 coupe is a bit of a honey :D8)

Not sure about the place on the 300c..

Great pictures, thanks for putting them up. I'll take all the mk2 Cavaliers, Saab 900 Turbo, Twingo, XR2 and Sierras.

Saab 900 Turbo - When I was kid, I had a mate who lived a few doors down whos dad had one of these, he used it for a couple of years until one day when its engine blew. It spent the next couple of years sitting on the road (Long before the days of SORN declartion, threats from DVLA etc...) where we used to play in it sometimes, then it was eventually moved onto the drive.

Came home one day to see it had gone, mate told me it had been removed (cant remember if was scrapped) he told me it made a hell of a noise whilst being removed and put onto the truck. Mates Dad at the time had a string of Shite cars, including a Green Datsun (Mate complained that for a big car it had a tiny engine) and a seemingly hand-painted Blue Metro that went on and on, until eventually it expired joining the Saab and a caravan on the drive in neglect.

XR2 - Was offered one of these a few years ago for £300, regretted not buying it ever since.

Twingo - I remember when these came out in. I was living in Europe at the time, my Mum and Dad were offered test drives in them as they were marketing the car at a Shopping centre.
