Spotted this electric Fiesta in Sherborne today, I'm assuming that it's a homemade device, the inside was a real sight with all manner of switches/fuses/relays. GR9 for causing tailbacks

I've just noticed the copy of 'The Week' on the passenger seat depicting Nick Clegg as a court Jester on the cover, how apt because we would all end up driving stuff like this if that twat formed a government

Blimey! Thats literally ace. Even better that its home made, thats the icing on the cake.

Fuggin hell, I;ve been trying to snap that for years, I am regularly in Sherborne and have seen it about but alas been cameraless or not had enough time to get that, I love/hate the smugness of the note in the window...m0rris

Intriguing. Wonder what kind of motive power he’s using? If that was parked around here the pikeys would have off with his batteries in a matter of minutes.

Didnt Ford have some Electric vans going around in the 80s/90s?DVLA Says:

I imagine that to be a thoroughly hopeless means of transport, something like 25mph top speed, range of 15 miles and grinds to a complete halt on anything more than a 1:8 incline. great spot!

Posted

I think the zero road tax statement is more likely to piss people off following him at 16mph than be an impressive fact to them...This guy surely had a Reliant Robin before this.

Having seen this thing in action, I can confirm it is as slow as a pissed granny it was holding people up where everyone else wanted to go 20 mph, not quite sure where he uses it though since getting out of sherborne requires some hills that are big enough to bring it to a grinding halt except going to yeovil, and anyway if he did that then he would have to go up a fairly big hill....m0rris

Yes, one of their key policies is to enforce the populace to buy old Fiestas with knackered Kent engines and put some lead acid batteries in their place. It's the future.

More electric shite... this mini traveller lives at Abbey pumping station museum in Leicester. IIRC it was developed by/for the Electricity Board, as was then.

Looks nice and safe that, I can picture the short-circuit, sparks and glowing red hot pieces of metal with acid pouring out on the road that would inevitably follow a minor parking bump.

The Mini looks like its got intimate with a tube train!Fiesta man should fit some super skinny 125 tyres or something, pumped up to 120 psi to try and increase his range.

Fester must be homemade, but Peugeot did some leccy 106s (cars and vans) in the mid 90s and Ford some prototype Escort mk 6 vans around the same time.

Whirrrrr

(The sound of me falling in love with that Mini)
