Liking that "TR7 Try one now. They go fast" sign.I seem to recall they didn't go fast off the factory floor in Speke.

Nope. But parts and stereos did!

That's the Kennings on Featherbed Lane in Shrewsbury, I went to the Rover 800 launch there. The building was there until quite recently, substantially unchanged except for the signage (it became an Audi showroom). The site got flattened a year or two ago, now it's a b.f.o. B&Q.

Don't suppose you could get me one of those National carrier bags, Mr Scruff? I think I need one! Got a couple of National/Smurf keyrings somewhere come to think of it....

No problem, PM me your address :)

Anyone else remember the promotional campaign National Fuels has in 1978 with free Smurfs? The National logo was ace as well, as was the old BP shield.

Our local shop gives out National carrier bags - complete with Smurf logo! They must have a box full of them.
You're shitting me? That's unreal - I task you to post up a photo. I wonder if they really are genuine late seventies bags? Worth rescuing a few imo.

Seriously? Would love one of those bags...was a National garage locally for years....or 'The Smurf Garage' as it became known as overnight. :-)

Hmmm. I'm going down to Stansted tomorrow. I may well have to go and pick one up. I'm guessing plakky bags weren't 'decomposable' back then?

My 1977 TR7 is a Speke car. In its life just about everything has been replaced on it. Full rebuild. The Speke 2 plant was a monumental fuck up, even by BL standards. Think it holds the record for the most inefficient car plant ever.

Not to worry, it's an ASDA now.Until a couple of years ago they had a TR7 in a big glass display thing outside. I think they took it away when the rust started to be obvious.
