NW Meet : Where Next?

OK, despite some love for the Q Park, sooner or later the trendies in the urban shoebox adjacent are going to start complaining. So, after some suggestions from everyone, I'm going to suggest a few alternative venues. The ones in the poll are ones that were brought up the most, although I'm up for anything within say a 50 mile round trip. That puts me within some fantastic driving roads. The stand out choice for me would be the Cheshire Lounge. It has LOADS of old car action during the warmer months, is very easy to locate, and has a large outdoor drinking area. Crucially, they're set up for (and expect) large groups of (old, weird) cars rocking up, and they do food on a Sunday. Here's the address:The Cheshire LoungeA556MillingtonAltrinchamWA14 3RX.That's what I'd plump for, but we could move about as and when necessary. It's also 5 minutes from my parent's house. 8) However, this is not a hard and fast meeting point. If you have another, different place you fancy meeting, feel free to post it up and its location.Could someone please set up one of those Google maps that shows everyone's location? I don't know how to do it.......

Cheshire Lounge sounds interesting to me. TBH I'm struggling to think of many venues. I'll rack my brains. Tomorrow. When I'm supposed to be working.

Hmm, strong verdicts. Any chance of a sticky for this one as well, MODS?

I was talking to a couple of Yank car nutters who do a meet every last Sunday on the East Lancs Road, can't remember the name of the pub, but they said that the Autoshitists would be welcome there.Huge car park and no snobbery :)

Sounds strong. That's not far from where Mr.IPTOC Clive lives. Perhaps I could entice him out with a chocolate hob nob..........

Bolton West Services and move the time to about 2am.

I'd actually be up for doing that.

Excellent! It's meant to be the worst service station in the UK, sounds right up my street, I love really lousy places.

Down south, Like Ipswich!

We should do a 'North meets South' meet. Defo. Dictionaries will be provided.

Who's paying my friggin' fuel bill?

Listen you, I'll be lucky to see 18 MPG from the Amazon once I've lobbed the B20 in it. Behave.

I went south once, all the way to Sheffield! All this about there being a north/south divide is rubbish, it was just like being in a slightly lousy version of Leeds with poor motorway access.

Mouldsworth Motor Museum?

I thought that was supposed to be Abington in Lanarkshire.

^ No, Bolton services really is something else. Hirst would fit right in there with the 1970's ambiance the place radiates. It really is grim :D

Could always have a fantastically bad meet at my house ? That Cheshire Lounge place don't seem too far, so i like the sound of that

The Carriage Horse on Marsden moor? Its a piece of proverbial to find, stunning views, huge carpark, decent food too (IIRC).

Posted

You mean the Carriage House ?

 Yeah, Carriage House. I should stop trying to type on the sly whilst at work. Im begining to come across as some sort of illiterate fool.

Not to worry mk1_4dr, i mess up spelling 90% of what i type anyway.Just aslong as your boss does not catch ya

OK, so we're getting more options here. A thought did occur: we could alternate each time at each suggested place, and every 'other' meet, we could go back to the Q Park. At the moment the meets are dictated by when I'm not at work (every other weekend), but youse don't have to dance to my tune.

So for example we could do:

April 25

Cheshire Lounge

***There's no May 9th because we're doing Cholmondeley***

May 23

Q Park

June 6

Thatch & Thistle

June 20

Q Park

etc.....

But I'm still open to suggestions. Should I do another poll?
