ruffgeezer Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 I made a start on the jigsaw I got from @comfysofa recently. this was proceeded by an afternoon of tidying up the workshop so I could see a bit of the floor, before dragging in the biggest lumps. So what is it? The fully grown bastard love child of a Stihl strimmer and a Raleigh Shopper in kit form... Built up it looks a neatly packaged thing, the kick start mechanism needs rebuilding but there appears to be some compression on the tiny engine. Sadly it has been removed from the frame rather roughly, and so some wiring repairs will be required. I'm not sure if this HT Leeds has been cut or not, but I have plenty here that I have been unable to ID so I'm certain I can cobble something up. As no key was present with the bike, and someone had had a go at smashing the old lock out, I drilled through the front of it to release the tumblers and the complete barrel. I've hung the forks on just to get an impression of what parts are there and what are missing. The headstock bearings look terrible. That's as far as I got before the news that our eldest mutt has got a tumour on her lung, so I don't know when my mojo (and by extension my bank balance) will return to something approaching normal levels. As an aside, we are heading up to Wakefield with her tomorrow to see if there is anything to be done. So if anyone fancies invading my inbox for my S40 or indeed any other shit dotted around in these pictures, I'm sure the folding will come in handy. I did manage to digitise my copy of the Velofax workshop manual, so I shall collate that soon and upload it to anybody else whom may benefit from it. Dave_Q Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 I think the HT cap just screws onto that lead, if it's long enough it just needs a new cap. If the lock you've drilled out looks like this, I can post you one FOC, just let me know if you need 1 lock barrel or 2. Rust Collector, comfysofa and mercedade 3
comfysofa Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 @ruffgeezeri could have sworn there was a key left in the ignition, i'm truly sorry if this wasn't the case. I currently have the panels off on my roadworthy Velofax, so when i get out to work on it next (if the weather ever improves) i will take photos to help reassembly. Good luck with the woofer! 😢

I'll certainly need one, but I don't know if there should be a lock anywhere else on the bike... I've not discovered one yet! @comfysofa does yours have multiple locks?
Dave_Q Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 It might just have one lock, if it has a second it would normally be on the seat/to lift the seat somewhere. It's just that if you only need one I can keep the other lock to use for a customer.
Dave_Q Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 Had a quick search and looks like there might be one in the side of the seat. I'm on holiday now till Thursday so just let me know when you've had chance to look and I'll put a set in the post for you. ruffgeezer 1
ruffgeezer Posted August 7, 2023 Author Posted August 7, 2023 I'll have a look when I get five minutes, I certainly don't remember seeing another lock.
comfysofa Posted August 8, 2023 Posted August 8, 2023 @ruffgeezer sadly i have no locks and @Dave_Q is correct...there is one for the ignition and one for the seat, thanks for your offer to Ruff!
