I'll admit that I'm totally selfish and wouldn't want to share it with anyone!

strange woman, strange choice of car  over 9k spent (including purchase) and whats it worth?2k? 3k to an obsessive?care in the community  wonder what she drives as a daily?

I spend far more money on my cars than they are actually worth. But then that's not what it's about is it....I say well done to the lass, makes me :)

I would think over the last twenty two years, I've probably spent enough on cars to have bought myself something pretty awesome, or done a spectacular resto on something exotic and valuable. Instead I've got a couple of dozen shitheaps and unfinished projects. That's just the way I do things... it entertains me. Doesn't mean it's the right way as there is no'right' thing to do with cars. If you like polishing and concours stuff then fill yer boots. Like vintage cars, banger racing, motorsport, hot rods? Crack on with it. Whatever. My particular bag is to have an endless stream of interesting but largely hopeless old shite which many sane people wouldn't derive any enjoyment from. Whatever you choose to do in the car world, if it brings you enjoyment then you're doing the right thing.

The same with me. I don´t like to spent almost all the money I have on one expensive and new car when I can buy 10 old and more interesting cars instead.

I think this should go in the Autoshite election manifesto thread....

Obviously didn't want a massive, overwhelming anti-climax.

Her husband is 70. I'm sure she's used to those.

You`d think there`d be a bit of separation anxiety after all that effort, but I suppose she can go and see it at the museum any time, and it might only be temporary. Plus it`s not likely to get itself in any bother in there, is it? Be a bit unlucky if a wagon T-boned it in a museum.I would agree with the owner that it`s too good for daily use now, the harsh reality is that daily use classics get crunched all the time, R-reg Sprinters aren`t fussy about what they steam into at 70, with a £500 so-so example you can swallow it, but with a car of this standard different rules apply, it just can`t be allowed to get in a smash, so it`s good that its off the road away from all the idiots. All in all though a pretty good fate for an Allegro considering what`s happened to most bread-and-butter `70s cars and is still happening to this day.

Well, all I can say is whoever did the reporting and photos for that article would have got the sack from me for complete lack of creativity.I'd have had her in fishnets , basque and thigh length patent leather boots spreadeagled over the bonnet, legs akimbo."Thats it, luv, lick yer lips a bit...legs a bit wider....thats great darlin'...make luuuurve to that Allegro....."Rather than:"Put a beige Primark trackie on luv and stand with a face like a smacked arse by the car. Thats perfect, thanks."

I think that's ace. If it weren't for people like her we'd probably never see something like that.

Same here. I don't think it's a waste at all actually, the car's done summat like 50k so it's seen a bit of service, and now it's been anally restored it's going into the caring hands of a museum. Happy days.

Totally agree Vin, as long as she is happy WGAF

I see this as a good thing, shes clearly quite happy with it (to say the least) and hopefully this one will stay in this sort of condition. No doubt the media jumped on this because its an 'All-Aggro' and that makes her mentally insane to everyone bar us.

Isn't she essentially doing what every car museum does?
