Milford Cubicle Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 Bosch indeed!! I thought all the facelift 2.1s had the god-awful Lucas EPIC pump.Great buy, if you ever come to sell it, etc...
warren t claim Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 Is this the one that was on the Ebay thread for £600ish?
messerschmitt owner Posted April 3, 2010 Author Posted April 3, 2010 Is this the one that was on the Ebay thread for £600ish?yep - I paid full asking, which included a half tank of the evil brew!Is it Bosch - I can't tell?Have organised its new spheres so suspension will be much improved shortly.
myglaren Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 Luvverly.I lust after one, or a CX Prestige, or GT Turbo, can never make up my mind and they all scare me.
Milford Cubicle Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 Is it Bosch - I can't tell? The distinctive 'flying saucer' boost compensator housing on the pump head gives it away.
messerschmitt owner Posted April 3, 2010 Author Posted April 3, 2010 Great buy, if you ever come to sell it, etc...I was looking for a banger, I think I found a 'keeper'.I scrapped my last XM - a 2.0i manual G plate (one of the first) - after I stupidly buggered it while replacing the starter motor! Who leaves a huge hole in the bell housing directly below where the starter fits that you can drop a bolt down? Anyway, choice was drop engine and split box from engine to recover said bolt or scrap car! That put me off XMs for a long while ...
saabhappy Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 I love cars like this - unappreciated in their prime but really VERY good and hugely comfortable on a long journey. What's more BIG Citroens look great, unlike small ones.
GJR 11L Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 ....Who leaves a huge hole in the bell housing directly below where the starter fits that you can drop a bolt down? Anyway, choice was drop engine and split box from engine to recover said bolt or scrap car....Stable doors and bolting horses maybe, but would one of those magnets on a flexible stick not have got it out of there? Great motor though, last of the really mad Citroens IMHO. Nicely bought.

Great motor though, last of the really mad Citroens IMHO. Nicely bought. trying to recover the bolt, I ended pushing it further down so it became inaccessible. Nowadays, I fill awkward holes like that with a rag or use gaffa tape to cover them till I am finished working on them. It was an expensive (well, a £550 (£350 for the car, £150 for a new starter and £50 for a brand new pump to sook out the 70 litres of prime unleaded I had just filled it with)) mistake. Ta for the comment on the purchase!
messerschmitt owner Posted April 3, 2010 Author Posted April 3, 2010 and looking at AEPdirect should have told me it was a Bosch pump - as the flter is purflux/Bosch.Yeah - off to Asda tomorrow for some oil. Am going to try it with a 25% mix and get some fuel filters.
