Classic trials

Does anyone on here dabble in this fun-looking sport. Having seen Production Car trials, which is great for shite spotting, but very low key, this seems like a lot more fun. Got to be more interesting than F1 anyway...

I'd forgotten that I trekked down to the Peak District last October in the Panda to see the Edinburgh trial (cue pics of shite bouncing up a steep hill...).

This looks like alot of fun, I would like to have a crack at this driving up mucky hills in unsuitable vehicles. I think my shitty little van would be boss at this. Where is a good place to start to find out moar??

Pog, I agree it would have to be something slightly inappropriate and van-like.

That does look like fun, but who'd want to treat their cherished shite (classic!) like that?!

Do you think they would let me use a Land Rover??

Great piccys , me and a mate did this in the mid 80s in a Singer Chamois , within 5 mins the exhaust and front number plate were ripped off and i broke the passenger seat frame , great fun though , we had a spare set of wheels with Marshal remoulded crossplys fitted , ripped them to shreads , love to have another bash

Thanks for the pics MrS, it looks great fun and I'd love to have a go. Even better are vintage car trials, look at some of the machinery being used in anger here 8) :

Have been wanting to get into something like this for some time - but I've found it bloomin' hard to find the right people to speak to. Joined a localish club who said they did it, but it turns out that they don't.Sadly, my love of FWD could be an issue. That 2CV would have been struggling because all the weight tips back uphill, away from the driven wheels. I'd still gladly give it a go in my 2CV though. She may be my pride and joy, but she gets driven and abused!

When I went and had a go one of the most capable cars was a Citroen Visa van and the most useless a Marina so FWD isn't neccesarily an issue. A lot of it's down to the driver. My R5 did okay after I got to grips with it.

Can't believe that someone would want to try that without a full set of wheels. :o It must have been hell trying to keep the steering on the ridge in the middle.
