Eh, seeing as I dont drive I dont really have the experience to come up with alot of laws relevant to the road. But if I were to ever get any shred of power within the political world, Id put a cap on the amount transport costs for students. Lets put this into perspective.£600ish for driving lessons and another £60 for the tests (Im estimating, I cant even remember how much they cost now), another £500 for a car and a £1000 (at least) for insurance. Thats over £2000 to start driving, which I simply do not have to dispose of at the moment. I know some insurance companies have begun to give out 'pay for what you drive' policies, thatd be good to have a universal use of this idea. Another similar example of this is in the States where some insurance providers would give the holder a curfew, where they can only drive between certain hours.If I was to get the train everyday instead, thatd be £1.80 plus £2.40 around 5 days a week. So £4.20. Thats handy as thats also what the bus journey to Basingstoke and back costs from here. Lets say 45 weeks of doing this, so thats 315 days of paying that. That works out as £1323, which is a noticeable saving when compared to learning to drive, but its still ridiculous. And it really annoyed me when I had to buy adult tickets from 16, yet had no other option.Yes, I do have a railcard, but for some stupid reason, there was a rule change so any tickets bought before half nine do not allow them to be used, so thats another £1.20 on the ticket price. Bit of a stupid change, considering most holders of a student railcard need to be in college before this time. Id love to be able to cap it at a flat rate, say 50p per number of stations you are from your destination. Apart from that, I dont have any other ideas, so yeh Id make a rather rubbish politician.
