Geriatrics and cars

Today I have had 5 old people moan at me about cars!!Firstly went and helped a female friend pull and engine out of her old landrover, she rents a garage in a compound and always tidys up and keeps it clear when she is done, but some old dear came out and moaned at us for making a mess and said the area wasn't a workshop! I have my own place to do my cars which i pay for so kindly said she can put it there but the point I am making is they moan at the younger generation for sitting around doing nothing but when we do something creative (as two builders said politely to her) they moan to.. I think its a great a 19 year old lass is rebuilding a landrover to use as her first car!Now to me being moaned at, the road opposite where I rent my garage and drive to fix my stuff did have for the past week my range rover broken down outside it but parked in a way that everybody could get by and not be in the way and still park but I got moaned for that today! Admitadly I did have fiesta van and the range rover and a friends range rover parked there for an hour today and then at about 7.30 pm when I was swapping cars about an old woman came out and moaned that I was working in the road I polity pointed out the one had a flat battery (i left lights on) and was changing it and would be out of her way in 10 minutes with no cars left there..Why do old folks really need too moan at people for there cars they all drive modern heaps of shit that I spend my time replacing there clutches cos they cant hear the revs but I leave an old car outside for more than a minutes and they feel that the world is coming to an endrant over

I'm guessing you're one of Mr Scruff's chums... hello!To add some balance, I parked up in my tiger-striped BX estate at the local supermarket this morning, and an elderly chap ecstatically told me that he LOVED Citroens (while closing the boot of his Volvo V50...) and he was positively thrilled when I said I had a 2CV too.

Aye for my sins I know Mr Scruff!!Well I have had comments before about cars from elderly blokes who like them but it always seems to be females that moan at me for my cars ( mostly old but then again I get them from younger models too!)

Should have told em all to fuck off unless they wanted to be happy-slapped. Ive had all of this kind of shit from OAPs and general busy bodies when I was younger, you kind of just need to put up with it.Stand your ground. Youll outlast every last one of them

YAY !sorry for the grand entrance But it looks like i'm not the only one here.I got moaned at by a neighbour, because i was using a torch at night to check fuses.I mean WTF ?, i told him i did not have night vision, and to wheel back inside.But i don't just think it is old people.Being a teenager you get targeted with the same brush "Youth scumbag, who causes shit", when you would rather quietly . . (unless beating a seized brake drum off) . . fix your's and your dads car.I did however have a nice smile yesterday from an elderly lady, as i degreased the Rebels Engine !

I remember an old aged gentleman moaned and called the police when me and a couple of friends were about 10. I suppose it was fair. We were running over his beige early 80's Ford Fiesta at the time. Never done anything like this in my life before or after, we left a big dent in the roof. Someone ruffian started it, and I just couldn't stop myself. My mum had to pay £25 to get it repaired. My dad 'tanned my hide', as they used to say.

i think some old people are lovely an take a genuine interest when they see young people doing something productive, but others just love to have a moan - these are genrally the sort who moan at anything an everything because their lives are so sad an boring, without making other people miserable they would have nothing to brighten up the day

FWIW I think putting a label on anybody because of their age, young or old, is pretty silly. Anyone can be inconsiderate or intolerant as this thread demonstrates.

What I meant to say was that older people forget they were young themselves, while young people don't imagine what it'll be like when they are old.
