It's been a while since I watched this, but I remember the shot of the (pumpkin?) and the broken glass made me feel sick :shock:edit: sick, not slick

Thats pretty terrifying!"Joy and Eric should survive..... for about 17 seconds" LOL!

I remember reading somewhere that one of the numerous ghastly side effects of a nuclear explosion is that it would knock out all electronic systems, including on board car computers..........Which presumably means my Wartburg (and most cars owned my autoshite members) would remain unaffected by the blast... So, if I haven't been vapourised, my tyres haven't melted, my petrol tank hasn't exploded and the roads aren't unusable, I'd be able to get away.... Glad we clarified that one!

Just watched the first half. A cheery film! At about 8 miles from St Pauls but in shadow from the heat wave thanks to a big hill I've not quite discovered wheat would happen here yet...[/img]

Threads - one of the featured videos on there is also interesting for shite related stuff

Not much hope in that lot then , still some nice shite and 80s hairdos

I'd forgotten those groovy 80's 'QED' intro graphics...! :D I think this sort of thing is why I'm rather cynical about the modern OMG! WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE FROM GLOBAL WARMING/BIRD FLU/SWINE FLU/WHATEVER IT IS THIS WEEK! scares... when you were fed that sort of thing as a kid, when it was a very real threat, you tend to think 'yeah, whatever...'

Imagine how annoyed those folk who paid £20 - odd grand back in the 80's for a nuclear shelter were when no one dropped any bombs on us  Scary stuff though, imagine all the shite that would get destroyed in such an event. It would be worse than the scrappage scheme

Me too. I remember about twenty years ago hearing all the OMG BSE MAD COW BURGER EATERZ WILL DIE stuff saying that upto something like 30% of the population would get BSE and being a bit worried by it all. Been ok so far.

I've wanted to see 'Threads' for years, i'll get on that at some point

THREADS is all on Youtube, split into 6 or 8 parts. Watched them all a couple of months ago. Stunning drama.

Forgotten about Threads. I missed this when it was originally shown (everyone at work was on about it for a week after iirc) and it was never repeated on telly I think I'm right in saying. Will definitely watch this when I,ve got 90 mins spare. Maybe tomorrow at work - the boss is out

It was repeated about a year after it first aired, and then not again until 2003. Although a DVD came out in 2000.

I just got a mail from sis who is in a big house near Cambridge. The place has huge solid cellars under it that could stop anything, The only part that got bombed in WW2 was the shelter in the garden. :(
