They sold well here as we understood early

You’re probably correct. My parents started buying Japanese in the early 80s, but it was not until the late 80s and early 90s they got very popular here .

I’d guess it has to do with the Norwegian high taxes on cars which made cheap cars (which Japanese cars were back then) relatively evenly cheaper than their western counterparts.

Same story with Denmark I guess, when I was a kid, danish tourists used to drive eastern bloc cars and Marinas. Nowadays there’s just a lot of X5:s and Q7:s coming from Denmark   😅

1967?  Is this the first one off the production line or something?  Surely 1967 is very early for these?  It looks fantastic (though it might not be I suppose).

I know I have said this before: we are very lucky that you take the time @Dyslexic Viking to share these with us.  But my question has to be: does anyone actually buy any of them????

That Volvo was registered in June 1967 so yes it is a early one.

And thanks, that's nice to hear. And no one has bought any of the cars here that I know of and I doubt anyone ever will. People probably mostly watch here for fun and that's fine with me, as long as there's interest here, I'll continue.

Thanks.  I looked it up and the 144 started in the summer of 1966, so this is a very early one.

Actually, I wasn't thinking anyone on this forum would buy them.  I was thinking anyone anywhere.  There are so many amazing cars you show us, but we know that Norway is going all electric.  That's probably no bad thing, but it makes me sad if these cars you show us do not find new homes.

Electric cars probably don't affect these cars being sold that much as the cars here are hobby cars so most people like me have a modern car and then the hobby cars. What affects them more that they are not sold or difficult to sell is that most younger people are not interested in cars anymore and those that are are dying out. The same seems to affect other things, such as the groups that save historically important ships and more, as the age of all of them in these is high and few young people seem to be taking over.

So the future doesn't look so good, but I just try to ignore it.

I guess that there are more important things in the world than the fate of old cars in Norway, but as a sentimental car person, I am also sad.  But we enjoy your pictures and that's good.  I hope one day we can meet you at a shitefest in the UK or even in Norway!

Well, I think it's important to take care of the cars for posterity as they are not just cars but also historical objects. So I hope they are taken care of in some way.

And I'm not so sure that Shitefest is the best thing for me to attend, but thanks for that.
