Ordered some shortened gel plates but they sent me full width 4D plates so I told them and they sent the correct ones. 
 

Now I’ve got both! I’ve always run shorter plates in the past on other regs but I’m not against either side by side so when the v5 turns up and I can put them on, I’ll have to just see which suit the van better.

I vote yes to painting the wheels that colour as well! Not normally a fan of whacky paint jobs but I think it looks fairly apt

The plates are pretty fitting as well, "yuk" with the green colour?

Those wheels look like a titanium/bronze sort of gold to me?

I literally want to order the paint now but I’m very conscious that I don’t want proper gold wheels, I want that darker kind of goldy bronze colour and it’s proving difficult. It seems graffiti paint is an option but there’s a million shades and you can’t really get a true feeeling from a square image of what it’s supposed* to look like! 
 

The plate was one of those impulse buys, any T5 plate seems to sell for £500 odd, I just found it amusing that rather than just T5 ABC it actually says something, and it’s also apt that the van itself probably goes against the hardcore T5 enthusiasts rules being a bit of a rat!

I like the wheels black but Matty is right this is the best colour. Darker towards Bronze is better, lighter just looks more like gold.

How many coats is that JJ? Is it worth chucking another on and seeing if it darkens?

Nah it was awful, nowhere near the right colour. 
 

Went to Wilco and got Ford “Tibetan Gold” it’s still not right but I can’t be arsed for now, I’ve done all 4 but will very likely do it again or just go back to black. It looks better in person than in photos though in all fairness

Looks alright that pal. Miles better than the black when you put it against the green. Even if you try another shade I reckon its the right idea

I quite liked the black but the second coat of gold looks pretty smart. I thought all the Wilkos had closed though?

I really don’t think it works, mainly because of the tyres. The T4 I posted a pic of is on low profiles and banded steels, this with big tyres just looks a bit weird. Think I’ll just black them again tomorrow.

It’s slowly growing on me. It really does look better in person weirdly. In pics it looks very shiny and bright but it’s actually darker and more subtle in person.

I am a bit obsessed with this van. It’s slow, old and ratty but compared to how I felt about the T4, this is brilliant.

Still a bit weirded out by the whole waving and talking thing when it comes to VW’s. Driving to Thetford today a classic beetle waved at us, on the A11 another T5 overlook me, pulled alongside then him and his wife were waving like mad at us. Stopped at KFC for lunch, sat eating it in the car park and a bloke walks up and just says sorry to disturb but love the plate and love the van.

I think I just need to get used to the fact that it’s a bit of a cult and I need to embrace it. Might buy a foam hand to wave. Fuck it.
