Nice car there - It will look lovely when the proper wheels are back on. Wasn't the early 323i the one the German equivalent of VOSA (TUV?) demanded that BMW take back and modify the rear suspension of, due to too many enthusiastic Hermans finding themselves in a hedge/ditch/ravine with a confused look on their faces

Cheers.I've read that the E21 323i was banned in Scandanaivia, how true this is I don't know, surely there were other RWD cars that had the same sort of power that weren't banned? my old 323i wasn't any worse than anything else with the same drivetrain layout and power that I've driven. The best rear wheel drive car I've ever driven for unassisted grip is my E36 M3, it has nearly 300bhp and no traction control and yet I can push it round damp corners. Only problem I've found with it is that it grips and grips then just snaps back quite abruptly whereas anything else I've had i.e my old E34 525i or this 318 is very easy to swing the back end out without having to provoke them much but very easy to catch.

Well time for an update, been busy with a few things so the ole I.S hasn't had much attention of late apart from a new electric hairy-hole that I fitted to replace the rubbish bendy-rubber-dildo one.

Lets see what it looked like when bought, it had horrible tatty 17" E36 replicas, headlight eyebows, a cheap shitty after-market steering wheel and a chinese dvd player that wasn't even a standard DIN size.

I fitted some standard 15" BBS wheels, replaced the gash steering wheel with a BMW one, removed the cheap shit stereo and also fitted a rare tech-1 rear spoiler which I think looks quite nice (old one was cracked)

It drives so much nicer on the 15s its unreal, I was convinced that I had a knackered wheel bearing untill I fitted the BBS wheels. Jobs to do are to lower the rear just a smidgen, give it a good polish and removed the horrid fruity gay-lord wop-wop exhaust.

Wow that looks super tidy now! What about replacing the aerial, those rubber ones always look ass.

With regards to the E21 323i, I think I've read a few times from an E21 lover that they do handle worse than the 1602/2002 that preceded them.

Can't wait to see it with the aerial replaced!

Thanks, I think it'll look alright when I replace the aerial. :)

Hmmm, are these classic-insurance fodder yet? I'm really tempted with a nice one, although there's far too many not-nice ones out there to wade through. That looks good though, decent interior on it.Any plans to replace the aerial?

Yes they are, I have both the 325i Spurt and the 318is on the same classic policy and its darned cheap too. The interior is what swung it for me because if it all went horribly wrong I'd get more than half what the car cost me back on the seats not to menion the fact this one has a factory-fitted limited slip diff which is very rare on the 318is.

If anyone mentions the wonky mast I'll cry  it was just at that angle whilst I fitted it.

Very nice 8) I have a old metal coat hanger if you want it to replace that aerial.
