Guys, They are all gone :o but I'm on the lookout again. No sure what model I'm looking for but any posts might help light my Renault Spark again. Wouldnt mind a nice 25 though :? Actually I wouldnt mind a nice early Merc 190 like one of pur fellow shitters had on here a few months backJohn

What about a povo spec Safrane? Well built and no equipment (like a Golf)

Posted

I'm more into older stuff to be honest where POVO wasnt an option,,it was standard(R25 EXCLUDED).

Just had a look to see what can be purchased here and there aren't many but quality is tops and rust-free.

A nice F1, not exactly shite, but oooh! 45,000 km 13750 pounds

R15 18000 km from new ! 3500 pounds

Fuego 70,000 km 2600 pounds

R21 136,000 km 860 pounds

And an R25 with broken auto trans. 235km 650 pounds

That should awaken a bit of WANT :D

Why an early 190 in particular, aren't they pretty much the same throughout production?

Anybody know how much it costs to get a car from Aus/NZ to UK/Ireland???? :o

Would you post the links to the 15 & Fuego please STUNO.To answer the question of the early 190s,,,,,I prefer the early ones because they dont have the plastic panels down the sides. I prefer the older ones with just some plastic strips and the sills dont have plastic to trap the bud that rots out the jacking points.

Ah yes, I forgot about the plastic tat they added to them later on.Those Volvo powered Safranes intrigue me, what are they like to drive?

Actually pretty bloody good. Excellent at fast motorway work, they'll cruise at 100+ all day (where legal, obv), very quiet, comfy, and generally a nice place to be. Ok at A road stuff, useless at B roads, but you'd expect that from a big wafty cruiser. The main thing I remember about it was the total anonymity. I lost it in car parks often because I couldn't remember what it looked like. Even now I had to dig out pics to refresh my memory.I'd have another one, but the one I had was cheap (£550 from the auctions) and it was very tidy. I've not seen another tidy one.

Safranes can be really nice cars the 2.5 is great with a great box,i own a 3.0 v6 RXE with all the goodies, which actually work, lots of car for what i paid...and yep still got the 25 Turbo, but there is a growing list of people who want this car,i,am sort of close to breaking point on this as a couple of offers are high!!

Thats far too technical for me :( Go to www.trademe.co.nz and search cars for Renault, there aren't a lot of them for sale.Edit. just looked to check and the 15 is 18000 MILES not km

Well the plan was to have everything sold so I could change my hobby,,but that did not happen. As soon as the 18 Turbo went I regretted selling all of my lovely cars, but unfortunately, sometimes needs must. Anyway I have decided to buy another Renault as hopefully a keeper this time though I am completely at a loss as to what model to go for, though my shallow pockets may determine this. I suppose I will start with the models that I havn't had

4-----not that pushed, though I am starting to see its charms

5----I would like a 5.

6-----would prefer a 4.

8-----Yes Please,,if I can get a good one for 1500 pounds

10---DITTO.

12----Highest on my list

14----Like thats going to happen

20----Would have to be a MK1 TS.

30----Please.

Fuego--Have had,,would like again

Basically I will consider anything but my budget is definetely stuck between 1500-2000 pounds . I would hope that leaving my options open will find me a car,,or else the money will get blown quickly by HER.

Regards

John

I've got a 21 Monaco. S'pose I could let it go for £2000...:lol: Only needs a starter motor and a driver's window. And maybe a tickle with a welder. And an MoT... (I'm really miffed that I haven't done a single thing with this lovely brown car yet. Hoping to get on it later this week. Holiday in the garage FTW!)

Can't imagine you'd get much in the way of R8 / 10 for £1500 tbh. Similarly, good R4's are starting to get pricey but £1500 would buy a decent enough one. Mk1 R5s seem to be starting to get more expensive but if you can find one, all but a Gordini / Turbo would be under £1500 for a pretty good one.

Ah well I knew that I was probably being optimistic with the 8/10.As I said, a 4 will probably not appeal to me yet.5(MK1) & 12 WOULD BE HIGHEST ON MY LIST.Fuego next.Is it me,,or is stuff scarce???Oh yeah-----Would still like a 25,

What are the reno' 21s like ?If anyone is interested there is one VERY local in a garden doing nothin' as the owner uses his Shogun instead (i think it's Because he has a HUGE caravan to tow. . . which never moves either)

I gather they're quite sort after in europe but only the manual gearbox version. It amazes me that renault insist on selling their big cars here in automatic only. Everyone knows they're not good at autoboxs so very few get sold......
