If the management or even "WE" could get a rough idea of the "mid point" from the members locations then maybe somethin' like this could be planned As i'm sure afew of us on here are not blessed with alot of money and cannot travel tooooooo far

We have spoke of it before, I like the idea of some ratty local pub car park in the middle of nowhere, The closer to Ipswich the better!

Oh no a lovely grass field is unbeatable!! We can sit around, have barbeques, drink beer and talk about Tagoras!Maybe we should start one of those "put your location on the map of the uk" type thing and then keep the link to it as a sticky thread at the top of the forum?

I'm in the process of setting up an online map area where we can all post our locations.

Couple of years back I attended the Retro Rides one at Mallory Park, Leicester and met some good folks on here, plus the Practical Classics crew were there as a bonus. Fairly low key that time however there was overnight camping and hilarity. Was quite good, although maybe the RR crew could feel a bit put out if Autoshite bum rushed their show en masse (if it even got noticed)...

Meant to sort a regional bash on RR but got sidelined at the time. If anyone fancies an informative local-ish do let me know as Mouldsworth Motor Museum in Cheshire is a cracking little place with nice scenery nearby.Maybe a breakfast at the Little Thief on the A51 near Chester and a slow drive to the museum one Sunday?

Sounds good to me, but I must insist on room for my deckchair AND my plaque board. Will be standardise the DO NOT TOUCH lables or making our own out of decades-old stationery?

Wow thanks strangehighways !As for "Bum Rushing" other meetsI guess it could be a slap dap fall back idea, but some people just dont take too kindly to other people "on there turf"So to avoid Autoshite being raped by cnuts saying how crap we are for wrecking there amazingly slammed and blinging ride with our Skipsi think its best if we do our own thing.

That sounds like a nice plan. Retro-rides is like a clash of two very different cultures (even though I enjoy both forums equally, and they're very nice on RR) but I guess J-tin lovers are used to worshipping the unloved, which definitely rings true here!

The Bubblecar meet was superb, Mr Bollox turned up in a stripey jumper and was ultimately led away in handcuffs.

Ditto with Microcar enthusiasts. Where's the bubblecar museum again?

It would be nice to put some faces to the usernames, see if you are all as grumpy as you sound on the grumpy old man thread!.It would have to be pretty central to everyone as I'd love to take my 02 but not sure if it would make a 300 mile cross country drive again!.

There was the OJC/autoshite weekend at the bubble car museum a few years back:

That would be interesting, not a massive museum but sounds ok for a meeting place.

Off the A17 place called Byard's Leap not far from RAF Cranwell.

Cranwell, Lincolnshire isn't it?, The garage next door is the one that serviced my car for the last 25 years!

Hmm. So two options, about as far west/east as poss! Another option is the Shuttleworth Collection (not just amazing old planes, old cars too - and they almost all work!) near Poggleswade.

Billing aquadrome in northampton?Go there every year for my Raleigh chopper do,nice venue.

Never been to the Shuttleworth collection but it sounds more central to the country as a whole. Which would be fairer, to have it somewhere central. Any know of any forgotten 70s scrapyards in Banbury Cross?

Posted

I've been to Billing Aquadrome a few times, it's a bit pricey to get in but it's nice enough providing it hasn't chucked it down.

Posted

Yeah, I guess realistically it will no doubt end up being somewhere in the Midlands.Looking fwd to it already!
