Proof that modern cars are crap

Since 1990 I have had/had cause to use company vehicles and in that time have covered many hundreds of thousands of miles. In that time/mileage covered you do get "mishaps" including hitting birds (the feathered type). Normally the birds dead-no damage to the car.

Not with a vectra though.........

Ouch. Poor old bird. Still, you can now just put a match to the Vecturd.Still, I know what you mean. My pal crashed his Merc Vito last night at about 1 MPH into a roadsign and the Vito looks chewed.Going back a few years, I put a Merc 308D clean theough an entire, breeze block wall, and the van's bumper wasn't even marked.

Asshats. Still, bird-strikes can be pretty harsh. I remember many years ago a pheasant doing hari-kari through the windscreen of 'Er_Indoors Fiesta Mk2. Made a very very big mess and in normal (i.e. not cheapskate) circumstances probably would have written the car off. Still, it's not your arseache to get it mended, which maybe puts years of arse-raping company car tax into perspective. I have only done "company" vehicles for a total of about 18 months in my career, and all of those were shitters that broke down alot, so I avoid like the plague (current Renna excluded, because it proved it's worth so was worth keeping when the firm went tits owing me £££)

Yes I expect a big bill behind that-I will add thats not my car/I wasnt driving its another works one. I was just pointing out I have hit birds before (With a Mercedes and Vauxhall and a badger with a 405) with no damage at all. Modern cars are rubbish with all this plastic thats a slow speed "hit" and the bird still f*cked off

Was still finding bits of mechanically recovered pigeon in the Montego engine bay a couple a months after one decided to chance it on the dual carriageway. No damage to the car at all :) A somewhat dopy pheasant was deftly punted into the path of an oncoming cyclist by the same car. It narrowly missed its second target, but I don’t imagine Chris Hoy wannabe’s under crackers would’ve stood up to much scrutiny by Danny Baker if he’d door-stepped him.

Looks like the Vecturd did well with all its pedestrian impact regulationsI personally think these regulations are a good idea (So the obvious less harm is done, to anyone stupid enough to get hit)And the price for these parts will be stupidly high ! (Just like insurance for me :) ) hahaAre you sure you hit a bird ?

Christ on a bike! what did you do drop my dik on it?OK, I'm guessing it was rather a large fowl?I haz a picture somewhere of a little bird parked in the grille of a pug that I happened to be walking past (car was parked) I will attempt to find this picture.

I ran over a Badger in a mk4 Scrote once. The car came off worse - it did horrible things to my undercarriage...
