The Ladas are either 1200 or 1500 as the 1300s and 1600s had quad headlamps.

Top spots, I bet chod like this is becoming harder to find over there. Also, it's filled me with Estelle Want again! thanks..... :?

I worked in Prague from 2000-2002, before the Czech Republic joined the (so-called) European Union! Those pictures have brought back many happy memories of life in Prague! It was a great place to see eastern European vehicular peculiarities then, and I'm glad to see it still has a good selection!

I loved it over there hopefully il visit it again in the next couple of years as you get out of the city centre the cars get older I could have snaped loads more cars iv got some more that I took on not digital camera il try and scan them and post them up.

[pedant mode] Isn't that 'Cavalier' more likely to be an Opel Vectra A ? [/Pedant mode]...and is it just me, or is the fact there's an advert for a 'Irish' pub on the lampost next to that Skoda coupe depressing?(Great spots, BTW...)

Quality Prague-tat there. I went about five years ago so it's nice to see theres still a good amount of old chod around.

I have a soft spot for Estelles - the last commie skoda (or 'proper') maybe?love their squat dumpy curvieness - a utilitarian design for the workers that lacks the western decadence of the bourgeoise cars we had to put up with....velour indeed!

went to Prague a couple of years ago - loads of old ladas and skodas around.saw a few Wartburgs too.

Superb selection there. :) I still see the occasional Lada but its been years and years since I saw an Estelle.

Hi - new member here with a long-time fascination for obscure badge-engineered cars. The Dacia/Renault Logan is in fact a Renault Thalia - a four door saloon version of the last generation Clio sold mainly in Eastern Europe/Turkey/Greece and South America also sold as Renault Clio Symbol and Nissan Platina

The fact it's all in English is rather depressing, you're right.Good to see lots of rear engined Skodas still about, the fact they were a totally Czech design probably makes them popular for those nostalgic for the old days (of course I don't know if any Czechs are nostalgic for the old days, what with communism and all).

There has been an Irish bar in Liberec (about 60 miles NE of Prague) since the early 90s so it's no surprise that there are a few in Prague as well.

As for it being 'all in English' I've been to Czech four times this year and it is very, very unusual to see anything at all in English once you're outside Prague.

I speak a small amount of Czech and I'm normally going mental after a week or so there precisely because there's fuck all written in English. When I lived in Greece it wasn't an issue, same in Italy, but Czech is very heavily 'not English'.

One of the first times I went to Czech I stayed in a mates house in the Bohemian mountains. Mate had to go away for a day and I was left in the house, in the mountains, by myself. Normally this isn't an issue but I'd forgotten to take any books with me. Nothing in his house was written in English other than the explanation of the symbols in the map of the area. There was no English radio - not even Radio 4 on shortwave or anything from Poland or Germany. He had no English language music - loads of music but mainly Czech folk tunes. Telly was hopeless, two channels and both looked pretty shit. I'd have killed for a pint in an Irish bar...

Anyway, a couple of Czech spots.
