In particular, Audi Coupe 2.3 Auto. 1991. I'm considering one, its got 10 mths test for £300! Any good or should I run???

5 cylinder audi's are a bit juicey aren't they? Add an autobox and motoring at £1.10 a litre will soon get depressing.

really? oh. so 30mpg is an impossibility then?

I'd be very surprised if that would achieve 30mpg. The VW Sharan with a 2.0 Auto use to struggle to crack 20mpg, so if a 2.3 Auto Audi Coupe could better 30 then that would be quite an acheivement!

lol, so the school run daily might get a little pricey at 2.5 miles!

The noise they make is wonderful, but a slushmatic one is pretty undesirable. Sounds good for the money though.

£225 for my wife to insure it.

Woman, 30+ loads of NCB, etc. They'd just laugh at me. She got the same quote for this as she did a Sierra 1.8!

If your wife's only doing 5 miles a day, go for it. Any car, regardless of engine size, is diabolically uneconomical until it's warmed up. Plus the Coupe has a certain style, the 5-cyl engine is a beaut, and they are fully galvanised so they just don't rust. My brother had a 2-litre 80 from '91, wonderful car.
