Thanks for the very kind offer, but I think these are even later than the flat trims. If I took them they might end up sitting in my spares stash, when someone with a 94 or 5 car would jump at them.

Just noticed that yours is a face lift model, so your smooth wheel trims are probably the right ones for a GL.

The coolest kids run on XS steelies though...😉

Nice, but getting them in Ireland might be a problem.

It's dirtier than it looks in the photo.I also like the bare look, maybe  with small black centre caps. Does anyone know what a 1990 205GL had when new?

I think the GL had a wheel trim design that resembled a type of sickly sugary biscuit you could buy back in the day. A 'criss cross' / squares style iirc.

I quite like the idea of keeping the steelies exposed so I'd go with the black centre caps.

The second option was in use at least to 1989, but I don't know when it changed to the third type. I have sets of both second and third type, although the second type ones would need a bit of repair and paint.

I took the front bumper off this as the  tubular reinforcement brackets that brace the bumper to the inner wing were rusty, also one of the bumper irons needed a new stud welding on.IMG_20201214_124448.thumb.jpg.c6355076b4ab7f2b35a058faa514a65c.jpg

Also found various bits of surface rust which needed treatment and painting.IMG_20201214_123601.thumb.jpg.1bedda2af41d40672c88445116ab12ad.jpg

I had one of the braces in very good condition in the spares pile that came with the car, and I made one reasonable one out of the rusted remains I had unbolted earlier.IMG_20201214_200535.thumb.jpg.6ca3731b63e66c999095f18735d390f4.jpg

I painted them.IMG_20201216_161124.thumb.jpg.cf252a51271c6d08f4e7cd1f85d5986e.jpg

Then put them back in place. This is the worst of the two.

The  bumper bolts are inserted through the bumper from the outside, through the hole in the fitting here, through a hole in the end of the underwing braceand are secured with a nut. The weather and the fact that I worked 6 days a week through December meant I only got around to refitting the bumper today.IMG_20201230_161038.thumb.jpg.7e55924568c0373d2b8008ad0f900b3a.jpg

€56 is a lot lower than €330. I wouldn't have bothered with a Fiesta or a Corsa A, I would have been picking them up with a shovel after 5 years outside

Nothing wrong with it at all. When I decided to live a little last year  I figured I could have a modern'ish fancy'ish  car and pay £500 odd a year road tax or an older classic (which became 2) for nothing.      I doubt either of those would have made it to 2 or 3 years let alone 5, hardy and great handling little cars are 205's - you dont need a GTI  version to have fun.
