A friend of mine knowing i'm into any old shite asked if I could put the feelers out for an exhaust section for a Renault FuegoReg. OWG***X chassis no. VF113620000058***Reanult Fuego 1.6 GTS CoupePart no. required 7700691313 exhaust pipe between centre and rear silencers.Does anyone know a good supplier / source for the part required. Any leads very much appreciated. Need to keep this on the road as the old lady owner has had this from new, dont want her trading it in on the scrappage scheme due to an exhaust problem

Otherwise try Lifestyle Renault in Tunbridge Wells - they tend to be good for older stuff or AC Williams at Grantham or somewhere in that part of the world.Shouldn't be too difficult to find though.

Cheers for the very quick replies :-) I've not seen the car myself so not sure which would be the right exhaust on ebay - plus the guy thats doing the work is not an ebay user. I might ask him to take a picture and i'll compare to those listed. I'll try those other dealers though - worth a shot

Aye I agree, sorry, I'm on a guilt trip. What are they scrappaging it for?

well maybe you should tell that to the guy thats trading it in ?

Why don't you tell him?

the whole story?ok guy had a couple of fuego's in the 80's doing well now thought he would have one again for old times sake, bought it of ebay 3 years ago, drove it once then locked it ino a container and forgot about it,came in,wanter a white 1.0 corsa for his 17 year old daughter, done the deal and in it comes tommorow, its a black y reg 1647 ts,he mot'd and taxed purley for the scrappage scheme.pics will follow the morra night.asked the boss, only way i can save it unless i cough up 3k he got under the scheme.no chance. but i will try to find out where its going(prob u pull it inverkeithing)cheers

Fair play I suppose. Its a shame but then if someone offers you £3k for something you don't want against something that you do then I suppose you can't really blame him for scrappaging it.Still a shame though.

it is a shame, but as i am forever saying, its the owners, not the dealers or the goverment that are scrapping these cars.

Back on the bought a NOS system off a bloke in Leeds, and he had a shedful of stuff. He's on the bay as glynnexs I think, and his email is the same name at hotmail.comMight be worth a shout.

there is a way around the scrappage scheme IFyour very good friends with the scrappys.............not legal but not illegal either

My grandads last car was a fuego. Not that i ever saw it.Apparently he didnt like it that much, well he did have a series one XJ6 beforehand........

I like them.I've currently a GTS & a Turbo, and will shortly be stuffing a spare turbo running gear into my 18 estate- having totalled the engine.Happy daysAll my exhausts are somewhat cobbled.....

take the car, then just as he's leaving slap him around the face with a wet fish. the f****n egit.any chance you could arrange a deal re the exhaust for the thead starter?, as its only gonna get binned anyway.anyway, Might be ageist and sexist, but personally theres no way Id give a brand new car to a 17 year old girl. first cars should by law be shite, those are the cars that you get all your 'learning' scrapes and smashes in.

They should though. New drivers would learn a lot more mechanical sympathy towards a vehicle if they were driving something a bit older that they knew they could not just thrash to death as there would be a chance they might kill it. And not just throw it back at the dealer under warranty. You learn an awful lot just by running an older car, all these 17 year olds who get new cars will miss out on that which seems a pity.

I think your first car should be something nice that you like, then you won't be thrashing the guts out of it and smashing it into stuff. Worked for me anyway.

Mmm.At age 17, or when they elected, each of our kids were given a free Kia Pride, taxed/Motd/insured for 1 year. 12months on, ,they had the option to buy it, (£100 -inc 1yr tax/ins/MOT)) or return it.Each learnt to drive on it,thrash it, service it etc. None broke - despite the very harsh treatment regularily imposed. At the end of their year, 3 elected to move on. Since that point EVERY car they own has broken -most terminally. Cost of repair/insurance etc has kippered 2, 3rd has a terminally wrecked Supra limping to/fromwork.4th, having watched her brothers, bought her Kia back, and it is still motoring. Reliably, cheaply.Reckon they all learnt a good lesson on the cost of motoring.
