Diese Woche, ich BIN meistens in Deutschland gefahren

Had a three day trip to Germany this week and saw all kinds of tat but with precious little photo ops. Also my previous colleague there was a bit of a 'shiter himself but the new guy would not really be happy to slow down for me to snap a 2-door Mk1 Jetta :P

Now is the time for Winterreifen (winter tyres) so you now have the comical situation of fancy cars driving around with either GR8 POUNDSHOP TRIMZ or my favourite - black steelies!

Did manage to get some snaps though sadly not the ace Borgward being restored at one dealer I visited :(

These Opels were at a dealer in Erfurt, very smart:

This Alfa was at the same dealership and I suspect it was a scrappage victim unfortunately:

I like the 'banded black steelz' look, reminds me of working in ski resorts. :D

I remember my old man coming back from his first trip to Germany and scanning the atlas for what he thought must have been the world's largest city. Every autobahn seemed to have a turning off for it. A city called Ausfahrt. Numpty.

I love Germany, it's an awesome place 8) When I was in Berlin the other year there was a car hire place where you could hire all sorts of pimpin lowriders, sadly it was very expensive to do so!!!

Nice photos.... however, isn't fahren a sein verb, and as such the title should be Ich bin.... gefahren (btw I am doing A-Level German which explains all of this nonsense!). It would be a great shame for that Alfa to be weighed in it looks to be in good nick!m0rris

This photo was taken in East Berlin..the suprise of my friends is the car had gone missing..un-noticed by us..we'd badly parked it one night..so it had been picked up and moved down the road..so this was us 'discoverering' it!

In Germany, we would say: 'Den größten Teil dieser Woche bin ich in Deutschland gefahren'.

..A bloke at work is selling an MZ similar to this. Doesnt want much for it but it apparently needs a bit of work (oil leak or something). Anyone on here slightly interested?

Great little bikes. My dad ran a 250 for years. I think this pic was taken on the Isle of Man in '82.

I lived in munich for a year (2000/1) and wouldn't have come back here if my german language had been anywhere near acceptable for work  I try to get back to see friends there every year (april this year). :D But they're now bringing in this 'green zone' to the center of most cities, so you have to buy a sticker which you can't get for a pre 93 petrol car or a pre 96 oilburner. I drove to berlin in the summer and had to get a hotel on the outskirts & u-bahn (tube) it around. :x

Yes, allegedly this sort of scheme is due come to Edinburgh, and will inevitably spread elsewhere.

I concur. So much so, that family Scrapman are moving over to Düsseldorf at the end of the month...
