My experience with We buy any Car was good.

In Feb this year I sold my 2004 114k mile Range Rover Vogue TD6 to we buy any car. At the time the most expensive for sale was £7995, with a typical price of £4,000 and a non runner £1,000. I was hoping to get £2500 for mine with lots and lots of faults, plus rust, but in good running order with a long MOT. I offered it on here at £1,800 but no takers.

WBAC offered £2700 on the computer but as at the time I did not list any faults I never expected the full amount. There offered me £1500 after inspecting the car and advised me there was a way to list the faults. A bit of negotiation then took place and they increased the offer to £2,000 and I accepted. Thing is they did not pick up a number of faults but winged about marks I felt were minor. Overall I am glad I did not spend an hour listing every single mark and fault or the offer might have been less.

It was a relief to sell it to the trade with no further worry as how it would treat its next owner. I felt it could hit you with big bills at any time.

I was treated we nicely by the staff at WBAC and got my money at the agreed time.

What do they do with a vehicle like that which at first sight does not seem particularly resaleable easily?

I don't actually know, but I am guessing auction.

It went back on the road in June with a new V5C issued.

All WBAC cars go to auction as far as i’m aware.

So in effect they are like a kind of automotive sheep dog - rounding up the cars from the fields and roads and getting them to auction for the trade and others to then bid on and buy....and making a few dog biscuits themselves meanwhile. I was not sure how that market worked but I see now.  Hence the stress on 'cosmetics' Ta.

WBAC is owned by BCA so a useful feed-in to their wider business.

Ah got you. A kind of win-win. Useful learning.
