Hey Fred, been offered a Mk2 beavertaild recovery truck with 2.5Di and five speed box fitted. Apparantly has full test and tax but needs welding and interior is scruffy. He wants eight hundred sovs for it I think, any good to you?Too old and too far away for me (Milton Keynes I believe) but happy to get contact details and pass them on if you like?

I am good for a beavertail thanks, I could put it on my forum if you like, but would need a few more details, and pics always help.

No worries will try and get details/pictures.If he'd been nearer I'd have had a bash at it as scrap has gone up round here and I can always find a bit of work for a beavertail.

if it's a crewcab I do know somebody looking for one, and it's a food home too.

He's talking about breaking it!

What the tranny  it looks a bit rough around the edges but what are they like underneath for rust.

That'd be a shame. How about a straight swap for a 1995 Honda Civic 1.3 3-door, rubbish paint (laquer's gone and a few dents) but 85K, superb runner, no rust and a recent cambelt & oil change?. MoT May 2010.I'm using the Honda as my everyday work hack, it's unfailingly reliable and cheap to run (so I must be mad), but if it's enough to keep the old oval-badged boiler in one piece...I appreciate your mate probably isn't looking to lumber himself with more shite but a swap is the best I can do to help here. I would wager the Civic is something he could pass on quite easily if it's surplus to requirements, so here's hoping...

I can ask, but I know he wanted the money to go replace what he spent on another Mk2 transit.

Fair play, Fred. I certainly wouldn't blame him. To be quite honest I'd had a few beers last night when I came up with my cunning plan, and was mildly concerned when I woke up and remembered the post I left yesterday. When I mentioned it to the missus last night, she just looked at me and said ''I'm going to bed.''So I'd probably better hold off from this anyway. I've got the two dead A60's, the 'off the road for twenty years' XJ6, the 'will fall in half if it doesn't go under cover soon' MG Magnette, plus the 'in many pieces' Volvo P1800 to worry about at the moment.Be a shame for the Transit to be broken up though. Damn.Is it half reliable, is there much wrong with it mechanically and does the heater work?

And the difference between this and scrappage ramsoms is....?

he hasn't got a shiny new 1.0 corsa in glacier white sitting on the driveway to replace it!

This isn't like that at all, it's the truth but a shame none the less. I know it looks that way though. Wouldn't it be a shame if in 2 weeks somebody posts 'have you still got this mate?' and it's in bits? Don't worry TM, I will sort something out. I don't need it though as I have a complete (as in with full period interior) Mk2 phase2 and I don't need two.

would he take installments? :?: I so wanna save it but ain't got a heap of cash lying around...............but I'm working solid up to Xmas time :D

Somehow I think not. I can see me panelling the windows, painting it white and slapping a blue light on the roof.....

Posted

no harm in that...........I could always buy it off you if you chose to sell later
