Maybe that's why I couldn't get the flash to pass mod to work with the resistor.

What's the flash to pass mod? I remember reading it but forgotten.

I know I used to press the flash on the stalk briefly to get the lights up and then double tap on the stalk to do the flash itself. Definitely would have been when the relay was removed but would have thought it did it before hand.

When you pull the lever, the lights flash but don't pop up. Ideally they should pop up and flash when you do it.

Up in the air again. The car's about to get a lip on.

There was a cross support missing from underneath. I cut a bit of copper and took it to a fab shop. They used a 20 ton press to squash the ends flat.

I drilled it and fitted it with nuts and washers.

It doesn't look much in the photos but I was at tesco earlier and it has changed the look a fair bit.

One of the little side lights is cracked and full of condensation. Again @gm has a pair of snazzy clear ones. I'll have to pop over some point this week.

That's a neat solution, those little tabs are to bolt onto the engine undertray which you are missing. Does look good though, really smartens up the front end. Careful on the speed bumps though :)

I never realised it was meant to have an under tray. I think my mk2 had one iirc.

Might be worth fitting one, if you go off into the gravel on a trackday, there's a good chance your belts could get caught up and mashed. You wouldn't want any radiator damage either :)

I'll never go off the track man.

If I do it'll be someone else's fault ?

My MK1 definitely put the lights up and flashed the lights when pulling the stalk. Maybe disconnecting that relay will do it?

Nay as you have an early one with a real oil pressure gauge. Later ones went to an idiot gauge with the needle in the middle being pressure and to the left with none.

I thought that was the mk2?

I didn't realise the mk1 had the switch as well.

Is it much aggro to swap the clocks?

If it's easy enough I might give it ago just to see.

Posted

1995 they changed to a go/no-go gauge iirc.

No idea on complexity but iirc the Speedo has a mechanical drive to it.

I'm too ham fisted for that shiz.

I'll end up shafting both sets.

The oil pressure guage is more than a switch by the look of it.

I need to wind the mileage back to 140779.

I can't work out how to do it.

Ask Quentin Wilson, or just go around again.

I've scored some lockwood dials for £20.

Yay or nay?

I prefer the old ones but it’s nice to have the choice.  Check all the bulbs work before you put it all back together again :)

In theory you could but it’s probably easier to plug it into the connectors on the car and test that way

Taste is subjective but I'm not a fan of the Lockwood dials.

Back when I had an 89 Eunos I used to lust after the KG Works jobbies from Japan, proper hens teeth jobs though!

A close second best would be some of Revlimiter's dials from the states, pricey, but very nice indeed...

The new ones fold in half.

This saves the massive hassle of moving them out of the way while unclipping the roof.

Also since theast track day, the steering wheel has been at this jaunty angle when I'm driving it. It still tracks and brakes straight.

Could hammered tyres be the issue or is it something more sinister.

I'm not sure if it's related but the power steering is notchy/pulsing for the first twenty yards or so. Engine speed irrelevant.
