Blimming heck, didn't realise you were just across the border from me!Acton have been there years I think, they are not now owned by Brett's are they by any chance? He has the garage at Barnton (Whitchurch Rd) and his lad had one in Acton somewhere on the Chester Road.Must have gone right past your house Sunday before last as was playing football in Wr*xh*m and went down Chester road to get to the pitch.

im not sure who runs it mate, never really been there before despite it being close to me - cars are too new and expensive for me usually!!I go to Chester quite a bit, used to work there - ever been to the scrappys around Wrexham? went to David Kellys in Legacy last week - he has over 350 old jags and Daimlers there and loads of other old rare shite - well worth a visit if you are 'over the border' anytime soon.

Yeah I know Kelly's, quite out of the way isn't it? Called in once when I ran an XJ6 series 3. He wanted £550 for a set of leathers so I left empty handed! You still see him bombing about in his old harvey frost Sherpa collecting cars! One of the Retro-Rides lads knows him very well as he works quite near there. Is the scrappy in Ruabon still there, I think it's near Vauxhall Ind. Est.? He used to have quite a bit of 'our' sort of stuff in, though don't know if he still does. There used to be another cracking scrappy on the Morda road out of Oswestry too, don't know if he's still going, I should go and have a look one day as long time since I've been out that way. Used to do quite a bit of work around your area with my last job and called to most of the garages and industrial estates between Wrexham and as far as Llandidloes as well as other places. Oh, just thought of another one: who is the recovery place that have the police contract in Wrexham? Think they're in Minerva(?) and they have a scrapyard too.

Minera. I used to work in Padeswood, at the Land Rover Garage there..........opposite the cement works. During the Towyn sea wall collapse, there were shit-loads of quaryy trucks coming over, on the road, full of stone to re-inforce the walls. Bloody good times them!

D Lawrence? He was an ace bloke, used to call there too. Some people said he was a bit of a twat as it'd been his adopted dad's garage and he wasn't a chip off the old block apparantly but I thought he was a cracking fella.Minera, iIrc, is up in the hills of Wr*xh*m just off the Ruthin Road.

yeah took me a while to find it to be honest, was well worth a good look around though. One of his old Sherpas is parked up in the yard now - dead.

yeah theres actually 2. Theres Clwyd Breakers - which is a good yard and Neil (the fella who runs it) is a top bloke - but he tends to cube older stuff straight away, mainly due to space - so you have to be quick.the other one is HK (who also have the Minera site) - its a bigger yard and he does have a lot of old stuff but sometimes can be a bit difficult to deal with.

There used to be another cracking scrappy on the Morda road out of Oswestry too, don't know if he's still going,

aye, he's still there. I know a chap who works there, not much in at the moment as they have crushed a lot but in a month or so it should be brimming again he reckons.

HK motors, that's the place, also a bit out of the way I recall. There's a reasonable amount of shite-tastic yards within fairly easy reach of us, used to love a run out to Furber's scrapyard as they had hoarded absolutely loads of old shite at one timeIf you like Volvos there's a specialist on Rednal Industrial Estate (site 'A' I think) near Queens Head, Oswestry who had all kinds of clapped out old Swedish stuff outside.Alas the old Queens Head garage has gone to housing now I believe. The bloke who ran that was a gem, must have been well into his seventies and used to go in for a few hours everyday just to re-arrange stuff even though he'd long since stopped trading.I should have made more effort at the time because he had reams of brand new old stock BL parts and some VAG stuff too kicking baout and the yard at the rear was rammed full of old Metros, Maestros, Monetegos and more. Bet they've all gone now :(One other yard well worth a mention is Kev's place 'Welsh Border Motor Spares' just off the bypass. Couldn't meet a nicer bloke and was VERY fairly priced.

That's not showing soz. I use PhotoBucket myself: download pics to it then use the bottom link under each picture ('IMG CODE') to post on the interwebz. Like this...

There is something about flikr that doesn't alow you to link directly to it. I have tred too and failed. You can check to see if anything you try has worked by cliking on the 'Preview' button, that will show you exactly what it looks like on screen.

EDIT - that'd appear to work! Just using image tags, viewing the photo in 575xsomething or other.

On some pages you get the 'spaceball.gif' hotlink instead of the image link. Maybe it's users who've opted out of hotlinking? Anyway, you can work around it using 'view page info'.

yep I tried that, but it didn't seem to work, could be like MC said, I tried the ones where the owner has blocked this.
