Cavcraft Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Couple of scams have been floating round recently and think it's worth mentioning them.Firstly some local papers (well, mine at least!) have seen adverts for cars at about 1/3rd of their value and 'cannot answer the phone, e-mail me at: (e-mail address). This is part of the age old scam telling you the cars are over seas but shipping is inculded to any U.K port. Now probably all of you are aware of this scam but I think it's worth a heads up as it previously it was pretty much confined to eBay and AutoTrader. Goes without saying if you can't view first then don't buy.Secondly the latest scam I've seen about is people advertising stuff in papers and on the net and someone mails offering to pay by Paypal. They ask for your Paypal address then send you what is a very convincing e-mail supposedly from Paypal saying you have funds. You then send the item abroad and subsequently find out the e-mail was a fake.If you do get offered Paypal payment always ensure it's gone through first by logging into Paypal via eBay or giving them a call.
Father Ted Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Paypal - work of the DevilIf I cant scratch a window with it, I wont accept it as payment.
carlo Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Screw paypal, the only way I'd ever let a car go through ebay is pound notes in my hand.
CortinaDave Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Yep I agree, there's no way I'll touch paypal when selling a motor.. It's too easy to get stung, and the fees are frankly ridiculous.

I always finish up coming home with loads of funny money, and only realising when I come to try and spend it. Currently got about £60 in my wallet, which will have to wait there until my next trip to the land of grey, drab towns full of fat, pasty-faced salad-dodgers.
Richard Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Salad dodger is a strange term. How often do you see a thin person eating salad?
