Nice work 'Monium! That is serious top-level shite, no messing about. Rspetc!e

Get me out of here, I want a Celebrity now. Rspct indeed!

Epic car, well done! I love the interior, it's just brilliant.I can think of more economical ways of driving to Scotland, even cruising at the old double-nickel

Awseome, so shit it's cool!Though the non-whitewalled side looks like something's missing so you need to get some for those two.

Is that a GM "J" car?

There is something a bit Mk2 Cav about the side on view.

Maybe its the shape of the doors, maybe I imagined it!

Blimey! Top grade shite. Rescept indeed! Mrs 'monium must be very tolerant :D

It is the next one up from the 'J' platform (Chevy Cavalier) This is the 'A' platform. (Vauxhall Carlton, Oldsmobile Ciera, Pontiac 6000 etc)ps. My wife actually chose it!

Not just a Chevrolet Celebrity, but a ââ€Å“evrolet Celebrity. It desperately needs Halfords replacement chrome C H lettering in front.

More pics. With the soon to be ex-mazda.

It manages a good trick of looking more compact than the Mazda!I guess the Mazda just looks enormous because of its blocky styling. Any joy in selling it yet?

Well, made it to scotland yesterday. Car was faultless. :)

Posted

Haven't worked it out yet. 80 litres to do 460 miles.

About 26mpg? Not bad! Excellently mingin' motor BTW. Reminds me a bit of the yankee version of the 910 Bluebird...

just been for a blast around south west scotland. Well, i say a blast, more of a wallow and lurch! Again, car was spot on! Needless to say, handling isn't one of the car's strong points!

I take it your holidaying in Dumfrieshire then ?

Posted

HAHA. Unlucky. How's the weather? No, let me guess... pissing it down? :P:wink:

Posted

Nah it dont rain in Ayr..............the Neds pinch it all first

Enjoy the Celeb. The parents of one of my close schoolmates growing up had a Buick Century wagon, which is just a rebadge of your Celebrity. I vividly remember the rides in it, the feel of the velour, and the stink. It smelled like the 1980s.

Unfortunately that was considered midsize here, even at 190 inches long. Chevy's full sizer at the time was a BEAST -- see it here http://local.aaca.org/illinois/images/P1010040-205.JPG

I forget that such a "common" car here is rare shite in the UK. (Then again, I'd pay big to drive about here in a Rover 75.)

Looks like a great place to live!

Nice one PM, glad it's going well for you.

Sorry if you've already said, but do you know how it came to be over here? The 'DX' plates suggest it started its life in Suffolk, back then we had USAF bases at Bentwaters and Woodbridge as well as the two still at Mildenhall and Lakenheath so they were responsible for bringing a lot of American stuff over here, then local dealers like Skid Parish would repatriate some into the local community.

Nice! These are actually rather rare even here now in my bit of Canada.First car I ever "drove" though when it was new and I was 3! Grandfather had one and we went out to an abandoned airstrip. I sat on his lap and he put the car in drive and let me steer around. He thought I'd just go crazy on the wheel but I actually took it very seriously and drove smoothly 8)

Back home now. Car was amazing! Got a slight blow from the exhaust now and a creak from one brake shoe, but apart from that, still going strong. Not bad for an ex scumball rally car with *16000 miles on the clock. The * can be replaced with any figure you want as there is no history. I guess it is a 2.
