Shite Magazine scans

Thought I might start a topic based on interesting magazine scans, sought of like One Shite Picture per post. Adverts, articles, road tests, anything really car related from magazines can be uploaded here.

Let's start off with a Wartburg Knight advert from 1972:

Happy scanning everyone!

I sold a lot of my mags, mostly hot rod/custom stuff but I have loads of VW mags still (for sale...)

The Safer Motoring ones are pretty interesting as they concentrate on VW but also looked at all European brands, lots of Wartburg and Moskvitch stuff in there. The majority are boxed up in storage but got a pile of doubles at home. I'll dig some out when I remember

I look forward to it, especially some of the Soviet stuff.

A base model Proton 27 years ago for the same amount as a base Dacia Sandero today:

Apparently £6990 in 1993, adjusted for inflation, is about £14,000 today.

ESP if you've got shares in scrap metal as betas & suds would be filling yards to the brim before the decade was over.

Which issue is the Firenza from?

No idea.
Must be around 72/73 with an L reg car in it I'd guess, but short of digging them out and flicking through two years worth of magazines page by page it'll have to remain a mystery I'm afraid.

A Chevette is literally not a coupe, saloon or estate!

I've found that the BMW 2002 Touring vs the Reliant Scimitar GTE was a test comparison favourite for a few magazines from this era.

Apologies for the silver tape on Page 5.

AA Drive and Trail magazine thought the Renault 9 was practical and bland in 1982:

But Renault offer only space:

Meanwhile Wolseley offer lively luxury:
