Hello all! Just thought I'd introduce myself. I've been viewing this site for a while now and it's good to know I'm not the only one who enjoys driving tat!I'm currently driving a scabby '95 BMW 316.

Greeting! Sound like you'll fit in well. Have you any pictures of the BeeEmVee?

Hmmm, we love a bit of late model prestige. :D

Erm, it's not very photogenic but I'll see what I can do...

316, it's not a Compact is it? With wind-up windows? (Did they make the Compact in '95?)That'd be perfect Autoshite 'prestige' tat. I do hope it's non-metallic with at least 200k on the clock.

I hope it has 'M' badges, 'Lexus-style' rear lights, some ill-fitting, and cracked fibreglass bumpers in the wrong colour, 2 alloy wheels, 2 steel, and Lithuanian number plates.Oh and welcome along.

I've had some chod in my time:1970 Herald 12001971 Spitfire mk 41971 Herald 13/60 convertible1973 GT6 mk 31966 Anglia estate197? Dutton Sierra (given to me by my dad)1975 Land Rover SWB1981 Metro1985 Escort 1.31978 Citroen Dyane1972 Triumph 1500TC1972 Triumph 20001980 Fiesta1983 Maestro 1.31977 Spitfire 15001984 Metro 1.3These are the ones I can recall. I've had company cars too, mostly complete shite, especially the 03 reg Astra 1.6 which blew it's engine up on the M53 with no warning at all at just over 20,000 miles and the W reg Saxo which just about everything went wrong on at some time or other, used to cut out at every junction and had the worst brakes I've ever encountered on a car. The car I had just before my latest one was a Rover 100 pov-spec. Badly repaired after a crash ( I found out after I bought it), water used to piss in every time it rained, the boot was tied down with wire when the lock failed, the back box fell off on the A55 resulting in plod having a word with me...Ended up scrapping it as it was a wreck.Best car I ever had was the Herald convertible. Wish I never sold it. Worst car I ever drove was a Beetle. 21 million people CAN be wrong...

Welcome, and a great list. Shame your 316 is not the super-povo "316e" fleet special from a year previous, I've only ever seen 'em on price lists and never in the metal.

Posted

Nah, it's a 316i SE so that basically means the bumpers are body coloured and sod all else. I'd love another classic, either a Vitesse or a 2500 would be nice but my missus reckons classics are all death traps so that's that, sadly

Cor, nice list (1978 Dyane - excellent). Shame about the missus. Mine's quite happy to drive around in a classic Mini (even though I'm not!) and proved that classics aren't dangerous by rolling a Minor and escaping almost completely unharmed!

I read that. She was damned lucky there! Shame about the Minor though...

M53? That means you're in the civilised part of the UK.

Just what I was thinking.Richard, welcome along chief.
