Renault banned.........................not

Renault have got a derisory two year ban [suspended] ref "Piquetgate". If this had happened before the current global finance fuck up, and it had been anyone else [excepting, of course, Ferrari] they would have had a mahoosive fine, an instant 5 year ban, and ALL of the relevant team managers banned form all motorsport. I can't believe Renault thought this wouldn't come out after they binned Mr Piquet earlier this year.

after what the FIA did to Mclaren this is a very poor result.

Tous les Français sont des enfants naturels.Realistically, Renault was never gonna get musch of a censure - the FIA have been kissing French ass for years.

Not surprised really, didn't expect they'd get thrown out / banned. Not because they don't deserve it but more that the FIA knows that it really doesn't need to lose another manufacturer and engine supplier at the moment so couldn't be too heavy on them.

If they lose Renault, there's no competition left for the Eyeties...........

Isn't Räikkönen going back to McLaren next year to piss on Anthony Hamiltons bonfire? I can't wait if it's true. I have an entirely enjoyable dislike for Lewis's dad. Love watching his "Look at me, I helped Lewis" persona explode when Lewis drops it / loses.Räikkönen amuses me and he's fun to watch when he's on a proper charge. Hamilton is probably as good a driver, but he strikes me as a bit of a cheat in the Schumacher / Briatore mould.

Right with you on Hamilton senior. At least the media have got wise to him and dont interview him much these days. The big difference between the Renault thing and the Mclaren thing is the forced resignation and lengthy ban for Flav. and Pat Symonds.

Thats why i like Hamilton and Schumacher. Its like when Senna took out Prost in Japan and vice versa the year before. They will do anything for the win. Räikkönen has the ability, but does seem more interested in getting drunk and falling off boats. Would be good to see them racing together though. I think Hamilton has already proved he has the ability as he kept up with Alonso for a year, but will be interesting to see if Räikkönen is all he is said to be. I think it will be the first time we have seen him paired with one of the drivers that is a cut above the rest. Same will be of Massa if he is teamed up with Alonso. Will make for interesting watching.

I'm so glad I'm not into this dogshit 'sport'. I'm not sure if it's crooked/corrupt or just at playground fighting level. At least it makes this unwatchable shite a bit more interesting.

Dross. Idiots. It's not been a sport for years, it's just a game of who has the most money.

Should never have let manufacturers take over teams. Let them supply engines etc but leave the actual build etc to the teams. Far too much money at stake for big business (blame Bernie).

Did Renault actually know about the crash before the kiss and tell from piquet? It's more a case of the owner not knowing that the manager had done it and then they did the maximum that they could when they did find out. Having said this, although the silence from the team/briatore actually suggests the crash was rigged, I still haven't seen any proof. If the slimebag italian doesn't take someone to court soon, I guess it must be true. But F1 is so political now, we may never know the truth.

From the BBC F1 website there's this quote from Pat Symonds...

"I would like to acknowledge my role in this incident," stated Symonds. "I was the one who, when the idea was first suggested to me by Nelson Piquet Jr, should have dismissed it immediately."

...and this from Piquet...

Piquet Jr apologised for his role in the scandal but claimed: "I bitterly regret my actions to follow the orders I was given. I wish every day that I had not done it."

That's cleared that up then.
