Shite related weekend?

Yesterday I was removing bits from the horrible Escort pre-pikey collection and managed to put the newly acquired Micra into the Escort's garage space.

Pikey man cometh, beer tokens collected, washed Micra, went to football, then off to the ale houses.

Today: Removed the layers of accumulated junk on the Merc, looked wistfully at it remembering the good times we shared and then attempted to put a battery on it. EPIC FAIL. I had mistakenly removed the battery off the Escort and put what I thought was a duff one in it's place. Wrong: I put a bloody good in by mistake and no have no decent battery to fire the Merc up with :oops::cry:

Wank battery now on charge, fingers crossed it will hold enough to start the car.

Undeterred by my own stupidity I got to work cleaning the Micra up instead. Armed with nothing more than some paint cleaner and some household cleaning equipment I got cracking and I'm well chuffed with the results...

Comedy home made front number plate will be replaced soon!

Anyone else want to say what shite related things they got up to this weekend?

That looks tidy, is it a giffer special? The home-made numberplate is great, it's the sort of bodgery you don't see much of today.

TBH not a lot. I have been looking at quotes on multi-car insurance so i can drive both my cars at once. I have however been offered a V-plate Mondeo with T&T for absolutely nothing (surplus to requirements and a little battered but, hey, it's a freebie). Much as I'd like to I: 1) Don't know where I'd keep it2) Dunno if I'd ever use itI am tempted though...

Don't be silly, you can't drive both cars AT ONCE. :P And if someone offers you a free car with T&T you say YES PLEASE. It's the same as someone offering you £300 for doing absolutely nothing.

I hear you Pog, just that i need another car like a dose of the clap at the moment. And, yes, I know I can't drive both cars at once (gimme strength):lol:

It's definately giffer spec chief. Keep fit windows and steering, four on the floor and no passenger door mirror.A lad at work had had it a while and was using it daily. He then transferred a thousand quid plus private plate to it as a temporary measure, hence the front plate. The marks on the rear plate are from double sided tape where he fixed the 'new' reg number to the old plates.78,000 on the lock supposedly genuine and looks it and to my great delight it has a 'fancy' radio cassette player 8) Dukestar25: I'm with Pog, you just cannot turn that Mongdeo down if it's free. I fucking hate the things with an almost unreserved passion but I'd have it for nowt.

are they that bad??? I would have never tarred them with the same brush as, say, the Renner Laguna as even Ford seem to manage a better reliability record than that. What makes them so undesirable..?

He's just weird, Mondeo's are OK, well at least until they burn their clutches out, knacker the control arms and have bumpers in 8,000 pieces ehld together with tape....Put it this way, if it's got rent in the window you can just leave it on the street, advertise it on eBay and forget about it until some loser comes to hand over their giro for it.

I've had three Mondeo's now, A Mk1 96 1.8TD with 130k which was great for £300 with a years ticket, Just very rusty though, A R reg 1.8 Verona with air con, Only cost £250, another £250 to get it MOTed then sold it to my mates brother for £895 and then my ST24.Can't really fault them, comfy, smooth and nippy, Yes they do rust, the arches have a habit of falling off and the bumpers are made from eggshells but they are lot of car for the money theses days, Especially if it's free.

My 96 Mondeo Ghia went straight through the MOT on Friday with no problems. 115k on the clock and still drives like new.

New front lower arms fitted last year but they are dirt cheap for parts. Very slight bit of rust bubbling under the paint on the OSR arch but thats it. I've had the car 2 1/2 years now and it only cost me £350 when I bought it. TBH, It's such a nice car to drive that I fail to see how a new 20k family saloon could drive any better.

Not a car I ever 'wanted' to own but I am very impressed with it and have no idea what to replace it with when it eventually dies or costs too much to fix.

Being a Ghia it has electric everthing and it all works....even the a/c is still cold despite never having a re-gas.

In fact, here is a photo of the trusty steed that I took yesterday when I was bored at Trentham Gardens:

Never really liked mundanos , but seem quite appealing at those prices ( free is better ), might be tempted to get one when i get rid of my ashtray.

The Mk1s were ok but I just couldn't get on with the Mk2s and I had a few being the tightfisted bastard that I am.I found the interior plastics to be cheap and nasty, bumpers that cracked if you ran over a postage stamp and just a general all round dullness. I used to love Fords at one time but the more I drive/see/deal with from about '94 on the more I'm starting to dislike them.I swear I had a really tidy Mk2 estate a year or so ago and I honestly preferred walking.

Back on topic...Yesterday I went to see a bloke about a different lock-up for the Sceptre. The one I was renting was in an area of flats, with limited parking, so I found nearly every time I went there some goat-feltching 'tard had blocked the access, even if the O/Hs car was parked in the space in front of the garage...:roll::roll:. Found the new one through a workmate of the O/H who rents from him, fella seems sound, he gave me the key straight away and said forget about the rent for the rest of this month, start from the 1st of October. My faith in human nature has been restored (Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible...)So today I installed the sceptre in it's new home. It's a bigger garage as well, tucked away and not overlooked, so better all round.

Been on set with an RS2000 (proper animal) Datsun 180b SSS, Merc 200, Volvo 240, Mazda 1995 pickup 1989 Landy Defender V8, and a Mk2 transit luton, all for an Adidas ad. Adidas does Autoshite!

Removed front calipers from the 405, so I could work out what type of discs and pads it has (took me some time to realise that Girling and Lucas calipers are one and the same - for some reason, the aftermarket call 'em Lucas while the things are stamped "Girling"). Parts ordered and should be delivered in time to do the job next weekend.Went to change the coolant on the Accord, but turns out to be fine strength-wise so that can stay put. Cleaned out a load of crud between the a/c and main rads though.Agreed provisionally to change the front discs and pads on a friend's Z3 3-litre, so have been reading up on t'internet how to do the job. Damn thing's been lowered rather a lot so I suspect I won't be able to get a jack under it and that will mean I can put my feet up instead.

Spent Saturday at work which was 110% rubbish. So my weekend consists of Sunday and Monday. This morning, unearthed the R4 and took it for a bit of a run. Currently sat here thinking that I might have some cheese on toast and then progress to a little light R11 fettling.
