Today I saw my first...

...Honda Logo. Looked cute but do not remember ever seeing it listed in the tables in WhatCar? etc etcAnd in true CT topic discipline fashion, I am driving a Hertz rental Kia Carens 2.0 Petrol - (not the diesel Mondeo estate I specifically ordered). Futureshite for sure. It's awful and so I like it.EDIT: I've just seen my second one on Mash's Spot thread.

I've never seen one ever (except in the Parkers guide). Apparently they were only made for one year and Honda didn't shift many of them in the UK. Shame really...

Well chaps, for the first time I went to a school reunion last night and what an incredibly surreal experience it was to walk into a pub full of many people who I hadn't seen let alone spoken to for 25 years....The 'Plympton secondary modern class of '84' reunion was over far to quickly though in a whirlwind of hand shaking, hugging, kissing and chatting, it's the quickest 3 and a half hours I've ever known....If you ever get the chance, do it!

I see a Logo regularly - my mum drives one! They were only brought in to the UK between 2000 and 2001, but were sold in Japan for a longer run as part of the City range. 1300 engine, CVT or 5-speed, 3 doors only, pretty well-equipped for a tiddler at the time. The platform was also used for the HR-V.

That can't possibly be true, can it?

Well that's what Keith Adams wrote in Car Mechanics recently. The ol' Logo isn't that bad a drive once you get over the shunted-Civic looks and the crazy whining of the engine on acceleration, thanks to the CVT...

The chassis and floorpan must have been 'lengthened' (considerably  ) to make the latter from the former...

Just typical though: The Japs get the lovely Logo and we got the ultimate chod-mobile that is the CityRover

Funnily enough I was going to do a post on these as they're quite uncommon. My Grandmother has a Logo with something silly like 8,000 miles on the odo, I wouldn't mind it myself as I'm getting right into tiny Jap cars and they're ideal for an Island and its nice sat intraffic on a hot day with the air-con cooling me.I regularly drive hers and the only really shit thing about it is the CVT autobox which always gives you the impression that the box is slipping otherwise the rest of it is beautifully made, its so solid-my woman has a Pug 106 and the difference in build quality is massive. The space inside is impressive too, I'd say without a doubt that it feels roomier than my BMW e36 three series. The Logo is fairly tall although most cars are like that now and I would imagine its a feature designed for old bids.I worked for Honda around the time these came and went, salesmen called them the Slowgo because sales were terrible, I can only think that the slightly bland styling and the fact it didn't really excell in any area might be to blame which in retrospect I think a tad unfair because people tend to buy small basic cars to get them around with the minimum of fuss and maximum reliability and economy rather than explosive performance. In retrospect I'd be quite happy to buy it off the old girl when she gives up driving/has her licence revoked/kills someone in it. Any pics required just ask.

Honda only brought a few to the UK, apparently to get the public used to the idea of a small Honda before they introduced the Jazz.

Make sure the CVT is A1 before parting with the folding if you do, my mum's has had a rebuild in the last year as the star clutch was breaking up - it juddered away from rest a little bit; similar low mileage on hers too. There's a TSB on it, it helps to use the latest spec box oil (shared with the Jazz).Agree with all your comments though, it's a pretty dour little thing (13" wheels with Honda's poundshoplike placca caps, no side mouldings etc) and the interior trim is pretty mogadon, but it is well equipped and spacious. Plus ideal for Momma_W who wants a/c and auto, but refuses to drive anything bigger than a Metro. God knows what it will be replaced with, on that basis...Weirdly enough given the poor sales there are three in the locale including Mum's, all W-plated and in that Cadbury Dairy Milk blue/purple colour. Have to do a double-take when I see one to make sure it's not the old dear checking up on me...

Interesting, I was driving it up a hill thinking jesus this doesn't feel normal, I've driven loads of CVTs but not in the last 6-7 years so I thought my memory of a CVT was a bit fuzzy. The 'ol duch only drives down the road to the shop, the car only gets to stretch its legs when I take it out for a blast.

There's one 100 yards or so away from me, will have to 'spot' it. Very bland to look at and I've only seen them in silver I think. They still seem quite expensive on the second hand market when I've seen them for sale. If only Honda had kept the original City/Jazz in this market. That was a cool looking car.

These actually look quite modern today:

Blimey, thats probably the worse City I've ever seen.. not very representational.

City Turbo for me:

I do like the old Jazz.

Not sue how masculine I'd feel in this though as much as I like it:

I like the basic door trims on these particularly the way the bin fits straight to the door, I hate bits of trim that squeek or rattle and it seems that the old style inner door trims that were flat to the door shell were solid as they didn't move unlike the moulded compressed card-type shit you get in cars like Rover SD1 or my BMW E36.

There was one up for sale in the next road to me a few years back. Went for under a grand. I've seen quite a few about, so never thought of them as rare up until now. Nobody ever seems to pay them any attention whatsoever. I wonder what happened to them all?

This is strange thinking indeed. Did Honda forget they'd already sold us the Civic?

Not to mention the original Jazz as well as the mk1 and mk2 CRX. Methinks that isn't quite true especially as Honda had the Capa albeit in foreign markets which shared the underpinnings of the Logo but was more of a mini-MPV of Jazz proportions which they could've chosen.
