This guy seems impressively barmy. You can tell from his efforts to go all 'Fisher Price' on the engine:

Awesome work there, that really looks the part.

I reckon he's be arising about with this taking bits off and putting them back on (and selling/losing them as well) for 20 years.

Just the rear half eh? Great work man.

Etc.

This mental case has had this on the bay a couple of times already with no bids at 250. Now its coming to the end of its 3rd tour of the bay so with a day left he's obv getting a bit more desperate. Accordingly he's just upped the price to 350. Brilliant!

After my Herald engine rebuild dragged out to over a year, I vowed that I'd never let a car's MOT expire again. Either fix and test or sell. I'm just trying to avoid this sort of scenario:

This was my first car, and has been stored for the last 35 years.

I started to restore it in the late 80's but ran out of time and effort.

I don't think I am going to take it on as a retirement project, and I would like to sell the garage that it is stored in.
Reluctantly I have decided to sell it.

Interestingly the asking price is the same as what mine owes me now and that one needs restoring and it's a Hondamatic, I wonder what mines now worth?

£15,000. GIVE IT THE ENTIRE DOCTOR TREATMENT

It was a lovely spring morning when 73 year old Elsie Bagshit headed off to here local Honda car and motorcycle dealer to collect her new Civic. The birds were singing in the trees and the unpleasant memories of catching the blatant filth of Benny Hill show was fading from her mind, Sickening pornography! She remembered the effect that program had on her dear departed Cecil, she even had to hit his pensioners leg with a cold spoon once after one particular episode. Still, she wasn't going to let that unpleasant memory ruin  the new arrival of her white Honda Civic. The salesman had agreed to put a set of mats and wing mirrors on her new Civic ready for her arrival, such a nice man, she thought, he even looks a bit like that lovely Frank Bough, god Frank Bough! He's a man who'd show that smutty Benny Hill how to make a decent television programme. Just then she allowed her mind to wander away from her new Civic and she started to daydream about Frank, imagining him checking her new Civics oil and explaining to her about its advanced triple valve engine by using simple pictures and reassuring her that it'll be fine running on two star petrol. Good old Frank! Suddenly she stopped in her tracks, she imagined Frank touching her knee reassuringly and she felt something strange but almost familiar, a moistening and swelling she hadn't experienced since that night with Cecil after the Coronation party in 1953. She desperately wanted to allow herself to succumb to her long suppressed urges.....

And then the super yes in Sarah Waters compelled me to buy a Chrysler LeBaron and snort cocaine for the rest of my days.

Wait - wrong piss take.

Can someone send a message to that Civic seller asking if it has ever been restored?

could I please ask only the interested potential buyers to call me, and with the greatest respect I do not want long conversations with enthusiasts who want to talk ‘civics’ in general and have no intention of buying my car.

Trigger could call him and really piss him off talking chassis numbers, build dates and option lists etc

Which brings me to a question that perhaps one of m'learned friends on here can answer - is this a standard speaker install in an Allegro 3?

allegrodoorcard.jpg

The Allegro 2 had a big mono speaker in the dash under the radio. This looks a bit aftermarket, but I'm not sure.

Since I have the same install on both my Princesses I'd say it's original, either that or they've nabbed them from a Princess, which is equally plausible.

It's amazing to think that that was produced only a year before the Morris Minor came out.  It's always fascinated me how for three years after the war ended, almost nothing visible happened in terms of automotive development (Jowett Javelin notwithstanding), and then suddenly in 1948 things leapt forward nine years in one go.

Ask a question and will try to answer. It has travelled most of Europe with Chelsea and saw Lampard break the record at  Villa (HR, AR, MR, MT, OT, JB all there), seen action in Bordeaux, Paris, Basel (twice), Manchester (both teams), Liverpool (both teams), Newcastle, Sunderland, Swansea, Monaco, Malaga (twice), Glasgow, Grangemouth, Munich, Norwich, Brighton and never ever let us down.

Ah so the car has been used to go to some football matches? Wow, what a great selling point.
