It is right hand drive to the best of my knowledge may be the only one

I repeat it is a right hand drive model so very rare

Question: Is it right hand drive?

people ask about the car every time you stop at traffic lights or fill up with petrol (which is quite often)

Honest enough.

it is recognized as a Mercedes in several states of America

good to know for a car for sale in Manchester.

but looks exactly like the real thing

TBH its not bad for a replica but it just doesn't quite pull it off does it?

That Herald is hilarious.

IN THE BACKROUND PARKED ON THE PAVEMENT IS A 1967 TRIUMPH HERALD

1200 ESTATE REG: NHS31F FONDLY KNOWN AS ‘JEZEBEL’!

I am sorry I cannot see the registration.

Car belonged to an Andrew Mc Kenzie

Not THE Andrew McKenzie, the air conditioner service and repair expert!

who was employed at the time by Carlyle Air Conditioning of nearby Portland Place. He just happened to be doing a service call on Abbey Road at the time.

WOW! Its him! I am starstruck!

Following extensive research I have tracked down the widow of the late Mr Mc Kenzie to PA USA who was able to verify the story.

That's truly amazing. I would love to her the story from your auntie Mrs McKenzie. Its a real shame that Mr McKenzie is not still alive as that would undoubtedly add more credibility to the story.

I honestly cant figure out whether this person believes it (and probably paid a lot for the car themselves) or is just hoping that there is a total idiot out there that wants to buy it.

That herald advert is classic old fashioned ebay dilussion. Before the internet these people would just have posted notices in their local paper or put a card in the newagents window.

I think the 3 door Fiat Stilo's a pretty good looking car, unlike this 5 door which is completely pot.

It's an Abarth though, which would probably have been quite a nice car to drive if fiat hadn't fitted that robotic gearbox. I imagine the robot in these is one of the ones you use to see on tomorrows world in 1981 trying to put sugar into a cup of tea but missed by 4 inches, dropped the spoon then knocked over the tea.

An XJS from what one of the Jaguar directors later called "The red, yellow and white years". When they opened a new paint shop at Castle Bromwich it was so hopeless that for 18 months that was the only 3 colours the car could be had in.

They are majorly sexy those early XJS models. I reckon you'd have to have several missing marbles and several banks worth of money to put one like that right though. I helped a bloke I know start stripping a 1989-ish one a few years back. Most of the stuff just sort of fell off as it was rusty everywhere.

If passing away peacefully in your sleep at a ripe old age seems a bit boring, how about a 1.8 zetec powered, instant death providing, custard coffin.

Buy, fit with ditch-finders, and in combination with the standard brakes and the overall structural integrity* you're assured of a speedy visit to the grave.

I quite like it.

I'd love an early XJS in a shit 70s colour like that.
This one is probably just more oval fodder though unfortunately. I recon only a racer would pay £700 for it.

I agree there's something about the look of the early ones that make them more desirable (in my eyes) than the later ones.

That's be a pre HE v12 too so I imagine the fuel economy's pretty easy to calculate because of the low numbers involved.

Interceptor sold off e-bay. Shame I wanted to see what it would fetch 'cos it's totally buggered.

Yes, and every single 1989 car not built by Jaguar (or in Britain for that matter) is still solid as a rock and in fact grew a lot better over the decades than it was when it left the factory, because it matured like a good wine. I mean, I have never seen the tiniest trace of rust on any 80s Mercedes, BMW, Audi or VW. Let alone an Alfa or Fiat. Or a Renault, the only car make that really never rusted. Every single Ford from that decade has survived unscathed, too, unless it was built in Dagenham, of course.

Hey? We weren't talking about any other car. Untwist your knickers me old china!

I'm just pissed off with myself that I passed over a totally solid, pristine, original, black, straight, blemish free, '87 V12, when it was offered to me about two years ago for a bag, because I'm terminally daft.

Seems we have a similar experience then. I got offered one for helping a guy out who was starting a new business with his missus. He said I could take the jag as he wouldn't be able to afford it....I turned it down.

I had a 1980 XJ-S V12, pre HE.  It was lovely.

However it wasn't rusty, which I imagine would have been a world of hurt.  Ace to drive though
