You might be surprised, I sit beside a chap at work who has an 06 plate Aston Vantage. The ignition key is from a Volvo, and now it’s a few years old the Volvo embossed letters show through the leather! I imagine those PAG-era DB7’s are ever worse for parts binnery (Mazda 323 tail lights etc)

 

Volvo embossed on the underside of the door mirrors om some of them too. I use to have drive the occasional Aston and various modern Jags when we did suspension work and tyres for the local Stratstone and Merrits dealerships. The XKs and XFs were much nicer, despite being half the price of a V8 Vantage.

Isn't that Estoura an ex-Stondon car? I think they've had it for sale for a while now. (and it still need recommissioning)

Portugal is easy to cheap-flight to, there will be a bilingual Portugese barman / waiter / food shop near you, wherever you are, and Portugal has loads of chod like this.

Needs a rear displacer though - I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Ambassador displacers are hewn from purest unobtainium and the diapraghms are made of unicorn foreskins or something.

I think there are a couple of Ambassadors in that scrapyard in Warrington where I got my Seat Ibiza window which might yield a displacer

I worked up at AML back at the end of 2015 and as fascinating and cool as it was, the parts being delivered to the line were frequently Volvo and others.

 

They were knocking out a car every 22 minutes at the time as one of the lines was closed as it was being upgraded. A large percentage of the cars that rolled off needed some sort of correction and part retro-fitting. I never felt that confident the quality was representative of the cost of the car. Fuck, they're cool looking and sounding beasts though.

Two litres of finest pez and slushmatic as well, so performance will be... Stately.

Still, MOT until January and it looks pretty good.
