1979 MERCEDES G-WAGON 240GD

Old 5 pot workhorse, these fetch strong money though. In UK.

4 cylinders as a 240GD. And absolutely no power at all! Really, not a single one.   The 5-pot is the 300GD.

Everyone knows you can unbolt the roof from your Herald/Vitesse and drive it round like a convertible. But the saloon is completely different from the doors back, so what do you do if you want a proper convertible folding roof?

You buy a Tristran convertible kit.

Defining features: Looks terrible when the roof is up AND down!!!

The car has the original engineers report  for when it was converted

Report: owner has unbolted a thing and bolted another thing in its place.

Seeing as this is only an hour away and actually has some shite credentials (unlike a certain small blue car), and because I actually kinda' like ZX's and estates, I feel obliged to bid on it.

So I did. It's even got my favourite; TSW five spoke alloys!

It's got windy metal things so very conventional by Citroen standards but they have that weird tucked up system that C15's have. Pre-arse, posh, afro-Clarkson (he's even annoyed that the cat was optional!)  talks about it's normalcy in this ye olde top gear video
