Too much money, but... last Saturday I was sitting in a very similar car (same model but green) owned by a friend.  It's the dictionary definition of comfy!

Flint and Lansing. The 1955 Buick and Oldsmobile were the first cars available in 4 door hardtop flavour.

And that's only when you discount the countless custom built pillarless saloons on both sides of the the Atlantic as far back as the 1910s.

Who built the very first pillarless saloon (no matter whether 2 or more door), is a debate that has been ongoing for eons.

 

However, who built the very first hardtop wagon (sorry, pillarless estate), is known.

It was Buick for 1956, i.e. in September 1955. The new Oldsmobiles were - as was often the case - delivered later that year.

I guess it already was in the 21st century last time it was bought.

 

 

One off paint job makes it a real head turner.

I bet it was delightfully JRG before it got vandalised, see A-pillar.
